Montclair Kids Educare

This week, the children enjoyed reading the story An Amazing Snowman and then created their own snowman craft using cut pieces of paper, colour paper, and collage materials. The children explored different textures and shapes while carefully assembling their snowmen, making connections between the story and their artwork.

This experience supported the development of fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity, and imagination. It also encouraged language and literacy development as children discussed the story, shared their ideas, and expressed themselves through art. The activity promoted concentration, problem-solving, and confidence as children made independent choices during the creative process.

With every new project, we introduce an art or design principle and explore artists, art history, and different creative approaches. I love helping kids understand not just how to make art, but how to think like artists.

Beyond our art projects, we’ve also been spending plenty of time with:

It’s been wonderful watching the kids create, experiment, collaborate, solve problems, and come up with ideas that are completely their own. Every group brings its own energy, and seeing their confidence grow with each project is one of the best parts of being a 🦗.
