Looking for online teachers:
We are seeking teachers to fill an online private teaching position. Priority will be given to those that meet the following criteria:
Hardware and Technical Requirements: Make sure you're set up for success
PC/Mac with at least Windows 10/OSX 10.12, Intel i3 processor (or equivalent), and 4GB or more of RAM.
A minimum of 18 hours of variable working time per week.
Internet connection: Min Downloading: 10 MB/s, Min Uploading: 8 MB/s.
Energetic, dynamic, motivational, and demonstrate content expertise in the core academic subject(s) taught.
Experience in tutoring students online is preferred.
TESL/TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate, teaching certificate, or equivalent.
Reliable internet connection even while load-shedding.
Back up power supply for Laptop/desktop minimum of hours.
Strong clear and well-spoken voice.
Native English speaker.
Ability to improvise on the spot.
Computer literate.
Preferably have an ESL teaching certificate during the interview process, but not strictly required. However, you must have one before the onboarding process.
No certificate (yet)? No problem! You can complete the interview first without the certificate and then obtain the certificate when you are hired.
In addition to the above, we are looking for teachers who are passionate about teaching and have flexible schedules to accommodate students in different time zones. Candidates must also be comfortable with using online platforms for teaching and have excellent communication skills to interact with parents and students.
Flexible Schedule: Work when it's best for you
The following time slots tend to be the most requested periods in Beijing time:
Class schedule (Beijing time):
Mon-Fri 18:30-21:30; Sat-Sun 08:30–21:30 during the school year (March-June; September-January the following year).
Mon-Sun 08:30–21:30 during the holiday period (July-September; January-February).
We do not require teachers to work full shifts, but having availability during the times mentioned above could ensure a higher possibility of being booked by our students.
Salary and Compensation:
We offer a base rate of $6 per hour (two 25 minute-lessons) for the 1V1 lesson and $8 per lesson 1V3. Salary will be bi-weekly in Rands and paid directly to your SA bank account.
Please note that these pay rates may vary depending on the dollar-to-rand conversion.
Don't let a power outage ruin your lesson: Backup Power PC Requirements
To ensure a smooth teaching experience, we also require that all teachers have a backup power supply for their laptop/desktop, which should last for a minimum of 4 hours.
