One chat with Rebecca Njuguna, and it’s very clear that she is an accomplished IT practitioner. She is currently advancing her career as a PhD Information Systems candidate at the University of Cape Town. She received a Hasso-Plattner Institute (HPI) at UCT scholarship award in 2021 and is serving in the IS department as a senior teaching and research assistant. Although her family had other career plans for her, when Rebecca joined the field of ICT, she found the field to be very interesting and has never looked back. She uses her analytical and storytelling skills to get insights in using user stories to aid in systems development. Her advice to the girl child is to take up some IT courses (even short courses) and will be guaranteed of an exciting career.
