Today we celebrated Father’s Day with some truly incredible role models in our learners’ lives dads, oupas, uncles, moms who fill both roles and those who were with us in spirit. ❀️

We enjoyed a wonderful morning together, creating special memories and celebrating the people who provide love, support, guidance and encouragement every day.

One of the highlights was our Create Your Own Braai Spice activity, where everyone got to mix and customize their own unique blend to take home. Our learners were also excited to gift their special people with handmade cards, coffee, and treats as a small token of appreciation.

A special thank you to Nottie Bar for the absolutely delicious brookies that made the day even sweeter! πŸͺ

We also had a fun photo opportunity to capture these special moments and create memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the morning so meaningful. Happy Early Father’s Day to all the amazing father figures and role models in our community!

Today, one of our learners worked on his ASDAN Towards Independence: Independent Living module, focusing on the important life skill of inviting a friend for a meal and preparing it.

As part of the activity, he planned the meal, set the table and prepared a delicious plate of spaghetti bolognaise. Through this task, he practised a range of valuable skills including food preparation, organisation, table setting, social interaction and hospitality.

We are so proud of the effort, independence and confidence he showed throughout the activity. These practical experiences help build essential life skills that support greater independence and success in everyday living.

Well done on a fantastic job! πŸ‘πŸβœ¨

Today our learners were hard at work preparing for our Father’s Day morning while building important life skills along the way.

Some of our learners enjoyed a shopping trip to CAB Foods, where they practised following a shopping list, selecting the correct items, unpacking the trolley and paying at the checkout. We also focused on car safety during our journey, showing the importance of seatbelts and safe behaviour while travelling.

Back at the centre, other learners were busy folding boxes, baking and decorating cupcakes and helping prepare special surprises for the dads.

These hands-on experiences help develop independence, communication, problem-solving, numeracy and daily living skills in a meaningful and enjoyable way. We are so proud of the effort, teamwork and enthusiasm shown by all our learners today! πŸ’™

Today our learners had so much fun exploring our wooden sensory play box! Filled with shiny sensory grass, colourful flowers, pompoms, tweezers and a strainer, the activity encouraged both creativity and skill development.

Using tweezers to pick up and move pompoms helped strengthen little finger muscles and improve hand-eye coordination, while carefully placing flowers into the strainer challenged concentration, precision and problem-solving skills.

Activities like these are wonderful for developing:
- Fine motor skills
- Pencil grip foundations
- Hand strength
- Focus and attention
- Sensory exploration
- Independent learning

There was plenty of excitement as learners searched, sorted, picked, and placed items, all while engaging their senses and building important developmental skills through play.

πŸ’š Learning happens best when little hands are busy exploring!

At Inspiring Horizons, we believe that learning practical life skills is just as important as academic growth.

Our older learners have been exploring basic first-aid skills and learning how to respond calmly and safely in everyday situations. They practiced how to:
✨ Clean and care for minor wounds
✨ Manage a nosebleed correctly
✨ Apply ice packs to bumps and bruises

These valuable skills help build confidence, independence, responsibility and awareness of how to care for themselves and others.

We are so proud of how engaged and eager our learners were to learn these important real-life skills. Every small step helps prepare them for greater independence in the future! πŸ’™

Movement is such an important part of learning, development, and overall well-being, and we are so grateful for our exercise therapy sessions with Nixbeautylife! 🌟

Through fun and engaging activities, our learners have the opportunity to build strength, improve coordination, develop balance and grow in confidence. These sessions are designed to encourage movement in a positive and supportive environment where every achievement is celebrated.

We love seeing the smiles, determination and progress our learners make during each session. Thank you to NixBeautyLife for sharing your passion and helping our learners thrive through movement.

Every step, jump, stretch, and smile is a step towards greater confidence and independence!
