It was an exquisite autumn morning for this intimate wedding at the Alphen hotel today. A secret garden with leaves falling ever so gently sheltered the couple and their guests as they made their vows. The bride’s choice for her entrance was “Can’t help falling in love” and she kept the exit song secret from her groom as he is an Ed Sheeran fan…so they left to “Perfect”. It was pretty much just that!

I have had the wonderful privilege of spending the past couple of days preparing for Afrikaans is Groot 100, which took place at the DHL stadium last night. How I love that this is what a couple of days in the “office” look like for me… What a show!!!! Definitely the first time in my life that I have been on stage in front of 50 000…what a vibe!!! Thank you music for taking me to places and into communities that are not my norm. And how lekker to see old friends….and make new ones..

So incredibly exciting that some of the MusicWorks children had the opportunity to be involved in this very momentous occasion.
A night of music in the Netherlands and sharing of the power of music through MusicWorks’ work in communities in South Africaanfs
Phase 2 of MusicWorks’ Early Childhood Development training. During these two days, practitioners bring and develop songs and musical activities that they can use with the children that they care for each day. While the music that we share and create is of the utmost importance, even more essential is that these songs and activities include our underlying principles of validation, agency and creativity. In this way, we believe that the music that then happens at these ECD centres is merely the means of providing psycho-social support to the children who are in daily contact with these practitioners. The last inhouse concert of the year was held in the Pitman Family’s beautiful garden in Newlands! The formula was the same- Take 2 duo provided the concert along with generous sponsorship from Pesto Princess and Cecilia Wines. However, the same formula in different homes with different hosts always ensures a completely unique experience. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and it was wonderful to have both young and old in attendance. The relaxed vibe was the perfect way to start winding down the year…

Just one photo of the last inhouse concert of 2024 while I sort and edit the rest. It was in the Pitman family’s garden in Newlands- an absolute treat! We even had our own terraced stage with shade….and the most perfect weather.

To everyone who was sad to see that our last two inhouse concerts were fully booked, here is your opportunity.
