Valentine's Day 2026

I came across this quote while scrolling on social media—one of those moments where you’re not really looking for anything, yet something finds you. The words lingered in my heart long after I’d moved past the screen:

“It shouldn’t matter how slowly a child learns as long as we’re encouraging them not to stop.” — Robert John Meehan.

It gave me something to ponder on.

As an educator, I immediately thought of the classroom—of the child who prays silently before trying again, of the learner who needs extra time but carries great potential within them. God did not create our children in haste, and He does not measure them by speed. He measures them by growth, faith, and perseverance.

To parents and teachers alike: our words can either become a child’s burden or their blessing. When we encourage instead of compare, we reflect God’s patience and love. School should be a place where children feel safe to try, fail, learn, and rise again—knowing that both home and classroom are cheering them on.

When we nurture a child with faith, patience, and hope, we teach them more than academics—we teach them that giving up is never an option.
