Challenge for some of our senior boys, to develop a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) design and produce a Multimedia Board Game.

This was a simulation of the commercial gaming market. The team of senior boys had to operate as an independent tabletop design studio. The Learning Center tutor acted as the commissioning client, requesting the design, prototype, and presentation of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for a commercial, multimedia board game.

This was not just an art project; it was a simulated business venture. The team had to balance creative world-building with strict production timelines, resource allocation, quality control, and client expectation alignment.

The team made us of online Ai LLM's to help with the board game graphics and the playing card's graphical look and layout. They wrote their own rules and went through at least three rule and playability reviews and corrections. The final product could be taken further with a crowd sponsored minimum print and production run.

The name of the boardgame is Belly-Up. It is a competing restaurateur game where four players compete for real-estate on the board to be able to generate enough cash to start building their company headquarters. A high rise corporate tower. But beware the market forces and the other player's action cards that can halt or set your growth back. The first player to finish their ten floor corporate tower wins the game.

Today we tried our hand at whisking an egg white into a firm foam to try and bake some egg white meringues, with food colouring. 😄

It was a bit of a mess with all the first time egg breakers. 😆🥚

But we did have some success as our Learners kept on beating and beating. Some reached that perfect moment when the stiff peaks showed up and some went way beyond into clumpy foam bowls. Some learning and some experienced was gained with all the egg shell breaking, yoke separating and sore arm whisking. 😉

Thank you to Teacher Hildemarié for sharing her experience with us and demonstrating how to so whishing egg white perfectly. Even Travis was willing to hold her whisked egg white above his head to see if it would fall out. It did not. 😁

Good morning Parents.

This is a friendly 🙂 heads-up that we are starting with our end-of-term benchmark and quiz tests next week.

Due to the short week of 21 - 23 September, when the short school holiday will start on Wednesday (23 Sept), until Monday (5 October 2026).

We will restart on Tuesday, 6 October 2026 for the 4th term.

During next week, from Wednesday (16 Sept) and Thursday (17 Sept) your child may be collected at 11:00 during that week.
Except for Friday (18 Sept) when they may be collected at the normal time of 12:00.

The following week on Monday (21 Sept) and Tuesday (22 Sept) your child may be collected again at 11:00.
And Wednesday (23 Sept) will be bring-and-share 🍡🍿🍬, then your child should be collected at 10:00, for the start of the short October school holiday.

On Wednesday 16 September, we will start with the online Science quiz test. Current grade level. May include topics not yet completed.

Thursday 17 September, will be online Social Studies quiz tests. Current grade level. Also, may include topics not yet completed.

Then the following Monday 21 September, we will be the Math online benchmark tests. Current and previous grade level. .

On Tuesday 22 September, will be the Language online benchmark tests. Also the current and previous grade level.

And Wednesday 23 September will be a bring-and-share morning until 10:00. Thereafter their brief school holiday will start.

We will reopen for the fourth and final term of 2026 on Tuesday 6 October 2026.

The Goodie Box Friday .
The Goodie Box comes around every 6 to 8 weeks, when learners may use their accumulated Participation Marks (PMs) as a currency to "purchase" items from a special "Goodie Box."
The Goodie Box may include a variety of rewards, such as snacks, drinks, stationery, balls and board games.

This system makes learning participation a tangible and rewarding experience.
PMs may also be “banked” for future use or “donated” to another learner who is in attendance during the Goodie Box event

In our latest basic cooking skills practical class, students were introduced to the proper handling and function of the steel grater. The children thoroughly enjoyed the interactive lesson and successfully practiced safe food preparation techniques.Presented by Gravitas Education @ Ruimte Leersentrum Learning Center.
