I am currently gathering information through this survey to better understand the needs of parents and caregivers in South Africa. My goal is to help identify gaps in support and advocate for more accessible resources, services, and opportunities for families who may be in need.

Communication doesn’t always need words 🤍

For many children, especially those on the spectrum, communication looks different — and that’s okay. Pointing, pulling your hand, using pictures, gestures, or even crying are all ways a child is trying to say “I need something” or “I feel something.”
As adults, our role is to look beyond the behaviour and understand the message.

When we encourage different ways of communicating, we are:

✨ Building confidence
✨ Creating a safe space for expression
✨ Helping them feel heard and understood
How can you support your child?
✔️ Respond to every attempt at communication
✔️ Introduce visuals, signs, or simple choices
✔️ Get down to their level and engage with them
✔️ Be patient and consistent
✔️ Celebrate even the smallest efforts
The more we meet them where they are, the more comfortable they become to communicate in their own way 💙
