Yesterday, our Grade 5 learner and Miss Teen Universe RSA finalist, Taznay Mouton, officially handed over all the incredible donations collected during our Winter & Food Drive for Tygerberg Children’s Hospital! 🏥

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our Brookies, parents, staff, and local supporters, we were able to supply a fantastic collection of non-perishable food, essential toiletries, and warm items to help bring comfort to young patients and their families.

A massive thank you to everyone who dropped off items, spread the word, and supported this initiative. You have shown what it truly means to lead with heart!

Here are the latest results for Week 2 of the MCO Participation Competition! 📈

Huge congratulations to Grade 7 for taking the top spot with an incredible 95% participation, closely followed by Grade 6 at 93%! Outstanding effort, senior leaders! 👏🏆

Hard work and dedication paid off this weekend! On Saturday, our talented learners represented Brooklands Primary in Round 1 of the Sanlam WOW Spelling Festival (Spel Fees)! 🌟

Did you know? The Sanlam WOW Spelling Festival is the largest spelling competition in the country, hosted across all nine provinces to celebrate literacy and language excellence! 🇿🇦📖

We are incredibly proud to have entered learners from Grade 2 through Grade 7 in both the English and Afrikaans categories. These dedicated Brookies put in hours of practice every single day leading up to the event, taking on challenging word lists with true focus and determination. 🐝💪

A huge congratulations to every single learner who stepped up to compete—you represented our school with pride and distinction! 🦅💖

We are thrilled to announce that 6 of our learners have qualified to advance to the District Round! 🎉 We are so proud of your incredible achievement and cannot wait to cheer you on as you continue your spelling journey! 🏆✨

Last week, our Grade 7 learners took an exciting step towards their dreams as we hosted our Grade 7 Career Expo! 🌟🎓

Our hall was buzzing with energy and curiosity as local professionals, tertiary institutions, and public services set up interactive exhibition stalls. Our learners had the opportunity to visit different booths, collect valuable career guides, ask insightful questions, and engage directly with experts across a wide range of industries.

What an incredible first week! Our Brookies have been logging in and tackling their daily Maths tasks, but the race for that FREE Civvies Day is just getting started! 👕🎉

Our very own Grade 5 learner, Taznay Mouton, is leading a special Winter & Food Drive right here at school! Taznay is currently one of the Western Province finalists for Miss Teen Universe RSA. She recently won 2nd place for Charity at the Miss Face of RSA Models pageant and used her own prize money to buy and donate groceries to children in need.

Now, Brooklands Primary is proud to stand behind Taznay as she leads this school drive to collect food and essentials for the young patients at Tygerberg Children’s Hospital. We are calling on all our amazing parents, learners, and local community members to support her initiative and help us make a real difference!

📦 HOW YOU CAN HELP:
We kindly ask each learner to bring at least one item to school between now and 14 August 2026.
🔸Learners: Hand in donations directly to your class teachers! 🏫
🔸Community Members: If you would like to contribute, feel free to drop off your donations at our school office during normal school hours! 🚪✨

Suggested items to donate:
🔸Non-perishable food: Canned foods (soup, beans, veg), maize meal, rice, pasta, peanut butter, oats/cereals, long-life milk.
🔸Toiletries & Warmth: Soap, toothpaste, beanies, or warm socks.
