Last night I received the prestigious Deans Merit List Certificate at UWC!
The new groundbreaking building blew me away with its incredible design. You guys should check it out.
I am always motivated and inspired when attending these events, but the following stayed with me.
One of the speakers at the event posed thought-provoking questions, 'We should enter to learn what?' and 'Leave to serve who?' As teachers, it's vital to reflect on our purpose and the impact we have on our learners lives.
So, what are you learning or teaching? Implicitly or Explicitly?
And who are you aiming to serve?

This is a book about the inner lives of teachers as they lived through and taught in the pandemic, and the lessons from this experience for the future of education in South Africa. The book has a narrow audience (teachers), middle range audience (parents, school governors, department officials) and a broader audience (the reading public) given that education affects all sectors of society. The book is written in an accessible style with teachers writing their stories in the first person. The framing of the book in an early chapter gives a sense of purpose and place for the book; the concluding chapter looks to the future and asks how we can prepare for teaching and learning after the pandemic?
