🌍 HERITAGE IN THE HANDS OF LEADERS 🇿🇦

What an incredible privilege it was for the Metro North Education District to host our 2nd RCL Summit on Robben Island! 🇿🇦

There could not have been a more meaningful place to bring our young leaders together. To spend two days on an island so deeply rooted in our country’s history and heritage was an experience that will stay with us for a very long time.

Our RCL learners from across Metro North had the opportunity to learn, reflect, grow as leaders and connect with one another — surrounded by a place that reminds us of where we come from and how far we have come.

And then, to have the unique opportunity to actually spend the night on Robben Island was truly something special. 🌙✨ It was more than just a summit; it was an experience, a privilege and a memory that our learners and staff will carry with them for years to come.

From inspiring leadership sessions to our beautiful Cultural Evening Showcase, the summit was filled with learning, laughter, culture, connection and moments that will not easily be forgotten.

A heartfelt thank you to all our RCL learners, TLOs, schools, partners, speakers and stakeholders who helped make this extraordinary experience possible. 🙌🏽

We honour our heritage.
We grow our leaders.
We shape our future. 🇿🇦

Dear Metro North Family💔

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of our colleague, Johnny Isaacs, from the Assessment Section.

Johnny was a valued member of our district family, and his sudden passing has left us shocked and saddened. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and colleagues during this very difficult time.

May the memories of Johnny, and the contribution he made to Metro North learners and schools, and WCED, bring comfort to all who knew and worked with him.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his family find strength and comfort in the days ahead.

Our deepest condolences to everyone affected by this loss.💔

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS TRAINING ⚖️📚

The Metro North People Management team joined forces with our colleagues from Strategic People Management and Employee Relations, and together trained over 500 public service staff members between 2 - 10 September.

The training focused on employee rights and responsibilities, as well as the importance of sound performance management. Delegates were also given practical sessions in the computer labs and taught how to navigate the online performance system of the Public Service.

Admin clerks, general foremen, general assistants, household aids and nurses form the backbone of our schools. They open our schools in the morning, often the first face a child sees, and are the last to leave each evening. They keep our schools safe, clean, and functional. Without them, there would be no school.

Thank you to all the colleagues who attended this training! Knowledge is power 🌟

Appreciation to Parow West Primary School, Belvue Primary School, Excelsior Secondary School Belhar and Kasselsvlei Primary/ Kasselsvlei Primêr for hosting us.

🏏🌟 *ATLANTIS COMMUNITY COMES ALIVE FOR KFC MINI CRICKET!* 🌟🏏

On Saturday, 15 August 2026, the Metro North Education District Zonal KFC Mini Cricket Festival brought smiles, excitement and plenty of cricket to Atlantis! 🏏🙌🏾

A total of 120 young cricketers gathered at Kerria Primary School for a fun-filled day of sport, learning, teamwork and community spirit.

Learners from *Westfleur Primary School, Saxon Sea Primary School, LEN Sports Academy, Berzelia Primary School, St Thomas Primary School, Wit Sand Primary School and Liebenberg Primary School from Malmesbury* took part in two exciting rounds of Mini Cricket.

Despite the misty conditions, the enthusiasm on the field never faded! The wonderful turnout of teachers, parents and members of the Atlantis community showed the incredible power of sport to bring people together and create positive opportunities for our young learners. 👏🏾

The Metro North Education District extends its sincere appreciation to Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA), Kerria Primary School, KFC Atlantis, and all our partners and stakeholders who contributed to making this festival a memorable success.

A special thank you to Sixsense Marketing for the KFC Mini Cricket T-shirts and equipment, DCAS for sound support, Robinvale High School MOD Centre for the entertainment, and Atlantis Cricket Club for coaching support.

We are especially proud to see our schools and communities working together to create safe, positive spaces where young learners can play, participate, develop and thrive through sport. ❤️🏏
