Our visit to the District 6 Museum wasn’t just a history lesson—it was a heart lesson too. 💡 Our students came away with stories, emotions, and insights that will stay with them long after the tour ended.

Our visit to the District Six Museum was more than just a walk through history — it was a journey into the stories of people whose lives, dreams, and community were uprooted, yet never forgotten.

What struck us most was the way the people of District Six continue to keep their story alive. Through voices, art, memory, and resilience, they’ve ensured that their history is not erased but honoured. Their courage reminds us that behind every event, every street, and every moment — there are people, and every person carries a story worth remembering.

At Timothy House, we hold the same belief: every student has a story. Just as the people of District Six protect and share their narratives, we are committed to listening to, valuing, and honouring the unique stories of each student who walks through our doors.
Because stories shape identity. Stories carry truth. And stories, when honoured, create space for healing, growth, and hope.

🌍 Our Visit to the District Six Museum
We stepped into history at the District Six Museum. Walking through the stories, photographs, and voices of the past reminded us that education is not only about books and lessons—it’s also about understanding people and the journeys that shaped our world.

For many of us, the visit shifted our mindsets. We didn’t just learn about District Six, we felt it. There were moments of sadness as we thought about the pain of forced removals. There were moments of being sorry—sorry for the injustice and the brokenness that people endured. Yet there were also moments of happiness and hope as we saw the strength, culture, and community that refused to be erased.

It was interesting and powerful to see how people, even in the toughest times, found ways to stand together. We left the museum not just with facts, but with a deeper understanding of dignity, humanity, and the value of every person.

At Timothy House, we believe in learning that shapes both the mind and the heart—and our visit was a reminder of why that matters. ❤️
