🌸 A LITTLE UPDATE FROM ADONAI HOUSE

Our upcoming support group picnic has had to be postponed, and we are still finalising a new date.

While we're disappointed that we won't be gathering on the planned date, the picnic is still happening! ❤️

We've already started receiving some wonderful donations for the goodie bags, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has offered to be part of making this special day possible.

🎁 So, what happens to the donations?

Nothing changes!

If you've already collected or purchased something for the goodie bags, you can still drop it off with us. We'll safely keep everything together until our new picnic date is confirmed.

And if you were planning to donate, we'd still love to receive your contribution. 🌷

We're simply putting the picnic on pause while we get a new date in place.

We'll share the new date as soon as it's confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding, your generosity and for helping us create something special for our support group families.

🌸 HELP US MAKE OUR SUPPORT GROUP PICNIC EXTRA SPECIAL 💛

On Saturday, 26 September, we’re bringing our Adonai House support group families together for something a little different — a picnic just for them.

Our parents and caregivers spend so much of their lives caring for others. There are appointments, therapies, school challenges, sleepless nights, difficult days and the constant responsibility that comes with caring for someone with significant disabilities.

So, for one morning, we want them to be the ones being cared for. ❤️

A morning to sit together.
To laugh.
To connect with people who get it.
To let their shoulders drop for a little while.
And to be reminded:
You matter too. You are seen. You are not alone. 🌷

We're putting together a little goodie bag for each person attending, and we'd love our community to help us fill them with some joy.

We're looking for donations of:

🍪 Biscuits
☕ Mugs / Hug-in-a-Mug items
🧦 Funky socks
🧸 Sensory toys
🫧 Bubbles
🎨 Play dough
✏️ Stationery

You don't need to donate a lot. One packet of biscuits, one chocolate, a pair of funky socks or one small toy can become part of something much bigger when we put it all together. 💛

💕 A HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO OUR INCREDIBLE COMMUNITY 💕

We are constantly reminded that Adonai House does not do this work alone. Every bag of clothing, box of household items, donation of “clutter” and financial contribution becomes part of something so much bigger. ❤️

A huge thank you to Frank and Lucille, Aunty Audry Saphora Frank, my dear friends Carmen and Lauren, Julie, and Janeen and Kiara for donating items to us. What may no longer have a purpose in one home can become an opportunity to help support another family. Through our thrift fundraising efforts, these donated items help us generate funds that go back into the work we do and the families we support.

A very special mention must also go to Elsa Wainwright, Amoné Robbertze and Renee Goedhals, who continue to faithfully sow into Adonai House through their monthly financial donations. 🌱❤️ Your ongoing commitment gives us something incredibly valuable: the ability to keep showing up, month after month, for families who need support.

The truth is, without these donations — whether financial or physical items — we simply would not be able to do what we do.

Every care pack, food voucher, practical intervention and act of support is made possible because people choose to give.

We were so excited to be joining this beautiful market for the very first time, so we are disappointed that we won't be seeing everyone today — but sometimes the weather has other plans!

❤️ CAN OUR COMMUNITY HELP A FAMILY IN NEED?

One of the families we walk alongside is facing a very simple problem that has become a very difficult one.

Their mini oven/stove recently blew, leaving them without a way to properly prepare meals. They have been trying to make do with their microwave, but this has become especially challenging because their disabled child is already a very selective/picky eater.

For many families, replacing a small appliance might be an inconvenience. For this family, it has become a daily struggle — trying to prepare food their child will actually eat, without the ability to cook it properly.

We would love to change that. ❤️

We are looking for a working mini oven/stove to bless this family with. It doesn't need to be brand new or fancy — just safe, clean and in good working condition.

If you have one sitting unused at home, know someone who may be able to donate one, or would like to contribute towards purchasing one, please reach out to us.

Sometimes making a difference doesn't require something enormous.

Sometimes it's simply giving a family back the ability to cook a proper meal. ❤️

💙 A little more warmth, because someone cared enough to give.

A heartfelt thank you to Tableview Villas and Cabanas for once again thinking of Adonai House and the families we walk alongside.

This time, they arrived with a wonderful stack of blankets, and we are incredibly grateful. 💙

These blankets will bring warmth and comfort to families caring for children and young adults with severe disabilities—families who often carry more than most of us will ever know.

Every donation we receive becomes an opportunity to meet a need, offer practical support and remind a family that they are seen, they are valued, and they are not alone.

What makes this even more special is that Tableview Villas and Cabanas continue to think of Adonai House and look for ways to support the families in our community. That ongoing generosity means more to us than we can put into words.
