Resistance band wraps.

Do they actually change muscle activationโ€ฆ or movement patterns? ๐Ÿค”

In this research refresh, we explore a cross-over study investigating the effect of a rehabilitative whole-body resistance band wrap on lame horses.

๐Ÿด Changes in gait patterns
๐Ÿด Changes in posture
๐Ÿด Effects on muscular function
๐Ÿด Cortisol and stress responses
๐Ÿด What this means clinically for Vetrehabbers

This research summary is now available in the Onlinepethealth Equine Members library.

One of the easiest ways to increase veterinarian confidence in your service is through your reports.

A clear, concise report shows the value of your assessment, helps the veterinarian understand your treatment plan, and keeps everyone on the same page throughout the rehabilitation process.

The challenge is that most of us were never formally taught how to write rehabilitation reports.

Thatโ€™s why we created a Vet Report Template and Guidelines document based on feedback from veterinarians and years of refining my own reporting process.

If writing reports feels overwhelming, or youโ€™re looking for a framework that makes the process easier, comment REP below and Iโ€™ll send it to you.

Your eyes are incredibleโ€ฆ and they are also imperfect. ๐Ÿ‘€

Have you ever watched a horse trot outโ€ฆ
Then watched again.
Then again.

And suddenly become less certain, not more certain?

Thatโ€™s because visual gait assessment is fraught with limitations.
Our eyes, fatigue, bias, expectations, and experience all influence what we see and how accurately we assess gait.

When we rely on visual gait assessments alone in clinical practice, we need to understand the limitations of those assessments. Not because visual assessment is wrong - but because we are human ๐Ÿ™‚

That is exactly why systems like EquiMoves are valuable.

John Voskamp joins us for a webinar exploring visual limitations, asymmetry assessment, and how objective gait analysis can help us measure what our eyes may struggle to consistently capture.

We often talk about strength.
We talk about topline.
We talk about engagement.

But what if posture comes first? ๐Ÿค”

Because if a horse cannot organise itself vertically, can we really expect movement to become efficient, balanced, and sustainable?

In this webinar, Karin Leibbrandt explores the role of vertical balance in posture, rehabilitation, training, and injury prevention.

๐Ÿด What is vertical balance?
๐Ÿด Why does posture matter so much?
๐Ÿด How does posture influence movement and biomechanics?
๐Ÿด What happens when we train on top of poor posture?

Because rehabilitation is not just about helping horses move again.

It is about helping them move better ๐Ÿ’š

Dogs are not small horses. Horses are not big dogs. ๐Ÿ‘€

When it comes to exercise physiology, thermoregulation, cardiovascular responses, and environmental extremes, these species function very differently - sometimes in ways that completely challenge our assumptions.

In this blog, we explore:
๐Ÿพ Heat dissipation
๐Ÿพ Panting vs sweating
๐Ÿพ Blood distribution during exercise
๐Ÿพ Splenic contraction
๐Ÿพ Oxygen delivery at altitude
๐Ÿพ Why species-specific knowledge matters in veterinary rehabilitation

A fascinating deep dive inspired by Dr Michael Davisโ€™ webinar on Exercise in Environmental Extremes ๐Ÿ’š

Animal chiropractic.

Say those two words in a room full of Vetrehabbers and you will probably get a few strong opinions ๐Ÿ˜…

Some swear by it.
Some avoid it completely.
Many are not entirely sure what chiropractors actually do.

But hereโ€™s the question:

How often do we judge professions we have never really taken the time to understand?

Whether chiropractic is already part of your toolbox or something you remain skeptical about, understanding what it aims to do, how it may influence the nervous system, and where it may fit within rehabilitation matters.

This blog explores the mechanisms, misconceptions, and bigger picture behind animal chiropractic. ๐Ÿ’š
Thank you Michele Broadhurst for always being ready and willing to share knowledge and experience with our community!
