Some moments leave a mark on your heartโฆ Today was one of those moments. โค๏ธ
This morning at exactly 09:30, I received a phone call.
โIs this Broadlands Park Pre-Primary School?โ
I simply replied, โYes.โ
At that moment, I had no idea that this conversation would become one of the most memorable parts of my day.
About 45 minutes later, I heard unfamiliar voices outside our school. I walked to the door and saw a large white vehicle parked outside. A gentleman and his wife stepped out, introduced themselves as Mr. Lukas and his wife from Germany, and explained that they were the ones who had called earlier.
They wanted to learn more about our school, our journey, and the vision behind Broadlands Park Pre-Primary School.
After sharing our story, I invited them inside.
From the moment they entered our classrooms, I watched their faces light up. They didnโt just walk through the schoolโthey became part of the morning. They sat with our learners, played with them, laughed with them, and spoke to them with genuine kindness.
They asked our little ones questions about our current theme, number recognition, letter identification, shapes, colours, and everyday concepts. One by one, our learners confidently answered, proudly showing what they have been learning. As a principal, there is no greater feeling than watching your children shine without even realising theyโre being observed.
Then Mr. Lukas said something that I donโt think Iโll ever forget.
He told me that many children around the world donโt have the opportunity to learn in an environment like thisโa classroom with tables and chairs where they can comfortably learn, educational resources that stimulate their curiosity, books to explore, learning materials they can touch and use, teachers who intentionally engage with them, and a safe, caring space where they are encouraged every single day.
He explained that, in many communities, children are eager to learn but simply donโt have access to these opportunities. Hearing those words made me stop and reflect.
Sometimes, when youโre building something day after day, you become so focused on the next challenge that you forget to appreciate what has already been created. Today reminded me that what may seem ordinary to us can be extraordinary to someone else.
Broadlands Park Pre-Primary School is more than a building. It is a place where children are given opportunities, where confidence is built, where little minds are inspired, and where every child is reminded that they matter.
As principal, moments like today remind me why I started this journey. Every challenge, every late night, every obstacle, and every sacrifice has been worth it when I see children learning, smiling, and believing in themselves.
Thank you, Mr. Lukas and your wife, for choosing to spend part of your day with us. Thank you for seeing the value in what we do and for reminding us that even the smallest classroom can make a difference in a childโs life.
Today wasnโt just a visit.
It was a reminder that education changes lives, that kindness has no borders, and that a dream that began with just a few children is now touching hearts across the world.
โInvest in a child today, and you invest in a better tomorrow.โ โค๏ธ๐
