The only thing more powerful than a woman is women, standing together.

On National Women’s Day, we remember the thousands of women who marched in 1956 and honour the strength of South African women who continue to lead, challenge and create change today

One of the things we value most about the Sustainable Schools Programme is connecting schools with partner organisations that create meaningful opportunities for learners to learn, take action and make a visible difference in their communities.

On 25 July, 25 learners from Liebenberg Primary School, one of our newest Sustainable Schools, joined Bewarea Conservancy in Yzerfontein for a community beach clean-up.

Together, they collected more than 20 bags of litter. SPAR Yzerfontein generously donated stationery packs, while a member of the Malmesbury community provided each learner with a healthy packed lunch.

The teachers and learners at Liebenberg Primary are passionate about making a difference in their community and environment. This initiative was a wonderful example of what becomes possible when motivated schools are connected with the right local partners and opportunities for action.

A huge thank you to Bewarea Conservancy for coordinating the day and for the regular clean-ups they continue to organise at Main Beach and 16 Mile Beach in Yzerfontein

Schools across our programme have been taking on sustainability challenges and actions on the SSP Hub…every challenge completed helps them earn points and move up the leaderboard. 🌿🏆

It’s a fun way to track progress, recognise effort, and celebrate the action schools are taking throughout the year.

Well done to Lekwa Secondary School who are currently in the lead 👏
