We are so proud of Tessa, who was awarded the trophy for ‘Most Improved in Afrikaans’ out of all her fellow Grade 12s last year in the midst of our busiest exam season.

Tessa worked consistently hard in her Afrikaans lessons with Natalie from March 2024 until the end of the year, showing dedication in her lessons and working diligently on all suggested homework assignments and extra practice work given. We congratulate Tess on her fantastic achievement and her outstanding Matric results. We have every confidence that she will succeed in her future endeavors and wish her all the best in her further studies 🌟🌻

In the heart of Westlake, Cape Town, lies a community-driven initiative aimed at bolstering academic success among high school students. Through a dynamic collaboration between Westlake United Church Trust (WUCT) and Baobab Learning Cape Town, free academic assistance is offered to students in grades 10-12, fostering a pathway to brighter futures.

PARTNERSHIP WITH PURPOSE

The mission is clear: to bridge educational gaps and empower the youth of Westlake. WUCT, a longstanding pillar of support in the community, has been instrumental in providing essential services ranging from healthcare to education since its inception in 2001. Recognising the pressing need for academic support, WUCT teamed up with Baobab Learning in August 2023.

Baobab Learning, led by directors Rochelle Duvenage and Natalie Winter, brings expertise and passion to the partnership. With sponsorship from Safe Working Practice (SWP) Cape Town, an occupational health and safety company committed to community education, Baobab Learning delivers tailored tutoring sessions in seven critical subjects: Mathematics, Maths Literacy, Physics, Accounting, History, English, and Life Science.

AN INITIATIVE FOR EMPOWERING EDUCATION

At the heart of this initiative lies a commitment to personalised support. Rochelle and Natalie provide focused assistance to students, addressing homework challenges, honing study skills, and offering targeted guidance in problematic areas of study. Importantly, the program places significant emphasis on exam preparation, ensuring students are equipped to excel in their assessments, particularly those facing the crucial matriculation exams.
