Monday Motivation | A successful sale of 420 heads of cabbage to HelloChoice through Hill View Farms has reignited the passion of Letcee farmers.
This milestone is a powerful reminder that when farmers have access to markets, their hard work is not in vain. Every seed planted represents hope, opportunity, and the potential for growth.
Here's to creating more opportunities that help communities thrive.

Monday Motivation | Sometimes the most meaningful impact is found in the everyday efforts of dedicated community members.
HCI Foundation visited two Lesedi Educare Association Playgroups in Rouxville and Zastron, gaining valuable insight into the realities of community-based early childhood development.
Despite challenges such as cold winter mornings and the demands of setting up learning spaces each day, facilitators continue to create nurturing environments where children can learn, play, and thrive.
We were encouraged by the enthusiasm of the children, the appreciation expressed by parents, and the impact of household gardening initiatives supported by Clement (Makeba), which are helping to strengthen food security and community resilience.
As we start a new week, we celebrate the people whose commitment and care continue to make a difference in the lives of children and families.

Our partner's Thanda Eco-ECD centre continues to demonstrate how early childhood development can be strengthened through sustainable, community-based approaches.
The centre's food garden, fruit trees, and small livestock initiatives contribute to food security while creating valuable learning opportunities for young children. Recent developments, including expanded fencing and the installation of irrigation infrastructure, will further support the site's growth and long-term sustainability.
Initiatives such as these highlight the role that integrated, community-led solutions can play in creating resilient learning environments and strengthening community wellbeing.

World Environment Day | 5 June 2026
This , we’re reminded that it’s more than a single day, it’s a daily responsibility. We’re inspired by what our partners have shared, highlighting a powerful truth: nature doesn’t need us, but we need nature.
We believe environmental consciousness starts with education, awareness, and community action. So we’re also asking: what are you doing for our world environment?

| We celebrate the work of TREE-ecd and their toy-making workshop, which contributes to creating engaging learning experiences for young children.
Play is an important part of early childhood development, supporting creativity, problem-solving, communication, and learning. Through the development of locally made learning materials, initiatives such as these help strengthen early learning environments and make quality resources more accessible.
Thank you to the TREE team for their continued commitment to supporting young learners and early childhood development.

As part of the newly launched water projects in Lufefeni and Pamlaville villages, 20 young people from both communities received basic training in construction, plumbing, and maintenance.
To support the long-term sustainability of the projects, these young community members will assist with maintaining the infrastructure, including repairing broken taps and addressing basic maintenance needs.
A community water committee has also been established to support local oversight and shared responsibility for the project.
Sustainable development is strengthened when communities are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and structures to support long-term impact.

Solar Powered Borehole Launch | Today, the Eastern Cape Education Trust and HCI Foundation launched two water projects in Lufefeni and Pamlaville villages.
The projects will support approximately 7,000 people, with 22 communal taps bringing clean drinking water closer to households and communities.
Improved access to water means women and young girls will no longer need to travel long distances to collect water from wells shared with livestock and contributes to healthier communities, improved safety, and greater dignity.
Access to clean water remains an important foundation for sustainable community development and resilience.

Solar Powered Borehole Launch | Today marks another important step in strengthening access to clean water as part of the ongoing project support visit week in the Eastern Cape.
Access to clean water contributes to healthier communities, improved livelihoods, and greater resilience for families and households. We look forward to sharing more from the Matatiele borehole launch as the visit continues.
