Science alone isn’t enough.
Scientists must also communicate, lead, and engage.

On 31 January 2026, the Africa Scientifique Introductory Workshop officially kicked off this year’s programme at AIMS South Africa, bringing together Mastercard Foundation Scholars, alumni and expert facilitators for an inspiring start.

Led by Prince Anani and facilitated by Dr Rejoyce Gavhi-Molefe (AIMS House of Science) and Dr Elizabeth Rasekoala (Africa Gong), the workshop explored what it means to be an African scientist rooted in community, confident in communication, and committed to development.

Alumni now working at CNRS and in industry shared how the programme transformed their confidence and career pathways.

Next up: two intensive three-day workshops and six months of mentored science communication projects.

The journey has begun — and Africa’s next generation of scientists is ready.
