STITCH2STITCH is a skills training project that is a programme under the Harfield Foundation which is a registered non- profit organization with a|City Church. The project runs both a skills training department and a small business that offers competent trainees contract based employment. The target group is single women who are unemployed parents in areas around Cape Town. The Project offers skills training in the following:
• Sewing
• Entrepreneurial Skills
• Basic Computer Skills in MS Word, Excel
• Various craft skills

The training is designed in such a way that course participants learn the basic skills at the beginning of the course and they progress to more complicated skills. The training sessions run weekly for a period of three months.

The trainees at STITCH2STITCH enjoyed a two-hour session with a qualified Life Coach. This session provides them with an opportunity to learn skills that can assist them in starting their own small business. The coach spends time on encouraging the trainees to think both laterally as well as building their self- worth. This session is free of charge. Trainees are offed individualized one-on-one sessions once they have completed the training and once they are ready to start their own business. The coaching supports the ethos of the programme which is to equip and to release people of influence by making dreams become realities.

STITCH2STITCH is a skills training project for single unemployed mothers. We saw
the first set of graduates receive their diplomas! These women are in the
process of starting their own sewing business.
