Ecclesiastes 1:2-10

Vanity of vanities, says Ecclesiastes, vanity of vanities, all is vanity.
What benefit accrues to man from all the trouble he puts in under the sun?
One generation goes, another comes, and the earth still stands.
The sun rises, the sun sets; he longs for the place from which he rises again.
The wind goes towards the south, turns towards the north; then it turns again, and takes the same circuits.
All the rivers flow into the sea, and the sea is not full; they continue to go towards the place they are heading.
All things are at work beyond what can be said; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear weary with hearing.
What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, there is nothing new under the sun.
If there is one thing about which we say: See this, it is new! this thing already existed in the centuries before us.
