Siboyiye Combined School 1979

Siboyiye Combined School, Mafemani Circuit, commemorated June 16 Youth Day with a school assembly focused on reflection and pride. Learners and staff gathered to remember the courage of the youth who lost their lives on 16 June 1976 while fighting for equality and access to education. We honoured their sacrifice with a moment of silence and readings that reminded our learners of the value of education and the responsibility that comes with it.

In keeping with the spirit of discipline and unity that the 1976 generation stood for, we also used the day to encourage all learners to wear full school uniform every day. Uniform builds identity, equality, and focus in the classroom. As we remember the lives lost on 16 June 1976, we commit to upholding the freedoms they fought for by learning with purpose and carrying ourselves with pride.

Congratulations to our learners for obtaining *3rd place* 🥉 out of 15 schools at the Lowveld Branch Bridge-Building Competition!

Our learners are representing the circuit in a debate under the theme ‘Child Neglect: Protecting Children from Violence and Abuse’ at Frank Maginyana High School, Manyeleti Circuit.

We had a successful Doek and Jean Day, with colourful shirts or T-shirts. Thank you so much to the parents and learners who supported the school initiative.
