TODAY at 14:00 CAT, Dr Ezekiel Ajibade, an associate professor of Christian Preaching and President of the African Homiletics Society, will be speaking on “Expository Preaching in the African Context”.

There may be various methods of presenting a sermon, but the expositional method stands out as highly effective for its faithfulness to the biblical text. Some have, therefore, rightly termed expository preaching 'text-driven' preaching. But expository preaching must never be boring and must communicate to the listeners in their context. Africans have their own unique way of listening to and processing information. Being a highly oral people, effective communication, and in this case, biblical communication, must consider oral elements such as stories, proverbs, songs, drama, myths, and folklore that help convey messages to a typical African audience. How these elements are engaged also depends on the interface between the text genre, the sermon structure, and the specific audience being addressed. In all, effective preaching with oral elements can help not only to bring many more to salvation in Christ but also to disciple those who already know him.

Attendance of these events is free and open to anyone. Click: https://sats.gl.reu1.blindsidenetworks.com/rooms/82m-wkp-hz1-4zr to join on Friday, 14 August @14:00 CAT.
