On Friday, our Grade 5-7 students traveled to The Apartheid Museum - the first of its kind, illustrating the rise and fall of apartheid.

Learning about apartheid is important because it gives us a glimpse not only into the darkness of our past, but also into the courage, determination and creativity of the ordinary people who eventually defeated apartheid. Studying apartheid will help to shape our values and world-view. 🇿🇦

Through KFC Mini-Cricket we’re providing our aspirant Grade 1-3 boys and girls with the first taste of cricket. This softball level gives the children the enjoyment that comes with participating in a team sport and also gets them acquainted with the basics of the game, including batting, bowling and fielding. 🏏🏅

🌍🌱 Introducing the Thandimfundo Eco Buddies. This is an exciting and important opportunity for us as a school to consider what we know about climate change, how we are being energy efficient and understand what impact our daily choices might have on the planet.

Of course this isn’t something we need to raise awareness of for just one day, but something we need to be reflecting on every day if we are really going to ensure a healthy planet for all our future generations…

The Eco Buddies will be working hard to investigate what we are already doing in school, consider what opportunities there are for us to do it even better and think of ways we can encourage all students to commit to making a positive difference to our environment. 🌱🌍

Creating a sustainable lifestyle isn’t as difficult as it sounds. You probably already started and don’t even know it. It’s as simple as using a dishwasher, remembering to take your reusable bag to the market and using refillable bottles.

Sustainability is about being aware of resource consumption and of reducing unnecessary waste; we take what we need without compromising the future generation.

At Thandimfundo, we are dedicated to raise awareness and develop sustainable practices in school to ensure our students grow up as responsible global citizens, whose successes will be measured not only by their personal achievements, but also through their contribution to a sustainable environment and community. 🌍🌳🍃

Thandimfundo Love Week is a brilliant time to inspire children to be even kinder! We take this opportunity to ask children to think of ways they can show kindness to both themselves and others. We believe it's a great idea to encourage children to use their creativity to think of ways they can be kind. ☺️❤️
