It is with great pride and pleasure that we congratulate the following learners on their outstanding performance at the TORA School Sport Karate & Kobudo Challenge, held on 18 April 2026 — the first official Western Cape School Sport Karate & Kobudo League event.

This historic competition brought together athletes from 47 Primary and High Schools across the Western Cape, with over 200 entries and 17 teams competing at an exceptionally high level.

Against this strong competition, the following learners delivered a remarkable performance:

1st – Kata 15–16 Years Boys (3 kyu+)
2nd – Shobu Sanbon Kumite 15–16 Years Boys (-55.0kg)

Connor Roos (Grade 11)
1st – Kata 17–18 Years Boys (3 kyu+)
3rd – Shobu Sanbon Kumite 17–18 Years Boys (+65.1kg)

Lia Strauss (Grade 9)
10th Overall Best Athlete of the Day
2nd – Kata 15–18 Years Girls (6 kyu+)
2nd – Kobudo Short Weapons 15–16 Years Girls (-4 kyu)
2nd – Kobudo Long Weapons 15–16 Years Girls (-4 kyu)
3rd – Shobu Sanbon Kumite 15–16 Years Girls (Open Weight)

Team Results:
SKSK Northpine Team 1:
1st – Team Kata 13–16 Years Mixed All Ranks
2nd – Rotation Team Sanbon Kumite 15–16 Years Boys All Ranks

BSKA 5:
1st – Team Kata 17–18 Years Mixed All Ranks

These learners’ results led PHA to emerge as the leading high school at the championship.

1st Place – High School Division
3rd Place Overall (out of 47 schools)
Ranked No. 1 High School in the current league standings
Ranked No. 3 Overall in the league standings

Overall, 4 Gold, 5 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals

Congratulations to Lily Coetzee (9MP), Blake Taylor (9VI), and Ryan Padoa (10ZJ) on achieving 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, respectively, for Best Dressed at our Valentine’s Dance.

Capturing the spirit of the Enchanted Forest theme, these learners brought pure magic to life through their costumes.
