Paarl-skool/Paarl School Paarl School is in Brackenfell and accommodates learners with: Cerebral Palsy, Specific Learning Disabilities and/or Physical Disabilities.

It was the realisation of a dream of the Dutch Reformed Church concerning the care for cerebral palsied learners, which already started in 1957. A house in Paarl, as well as 8,5 hectares outside Paarl, was donated during the 1960’s to the “Paarlse Komitee vir Serebraal Gestremdes”, a sub-committee of the Social Services Committee of the Church. After years of deliberation with the Department of National Education, the founding of a school for cerebral palsied learners was approved. There were however certain articles of agreement which stated that the school be nearer to an urban area, for the recruitment of specialised staff, as well as close to a well equipped hospital, in this case the Tygerberg Hospital.

The Speech Therapy Department was proud to showcase low-resource communication tools for learners with special educational needs at the Inclusive Education Festival, demonstrating how simple, practical AAC solutions can empower learners to participate, connect and express themselves.

Paarl School's learners celebrated Pearl Club Day with braaing, picnics and games in their respective phases. They had lots of fun and enjoyed the lovely weather.

Paarl-skoolleerders het Pêrelklubdag gevier met ‘n braai, ‘n piekniek en speletjies in hul onderskeie fases. Hulle het baie pret gehad en die heerlike weer terdeë geniet.

Vandag het ons Graad 9A, Graad 9E en die Werksvoorbereiding 5-leerders ’n aalwynboom geplant.

Ons is vreeslik trots op ons oudleerder, Eben Matthee (gr 9 van 2016). Hy het deelgeneem aan die wêreldtoutrekkampioenskappe in Mosselbaai en is gekroon as wêreldkampioen.
Wie kon dink dat Paarl-skool se eens kaalvoettrekker nou 'n wêreldkampioen is!
