A day of inspiration and possibilities!

Imbeleko learners visited the UKZN Westville Campus at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Open Day to explore different faculties, learn about various fields of study, and gain valuable information about university admissions, funding opportunities, and student life.

The experience allowed learners to ask questions directly to faculty representatives and get a real feel of what studying at a university could look like for them. Many of the students described the day as fun, intriguing, and very informative, sharing that it helped give them clarity and a stronger sense of direction about their future studies and career paths.

Moments like these open doors, expand possibilities, and remind our learners that their dreams are within reach.

This past Monday, we proudly hosted our Awards Ceremony at Imbeleko Academy to celebrate our learners’ Term 4 results for 2025.

Although these results are from last year, we believe that it is never too late to recognise and reward excellence. Every achievement deserves to be acknowledged.

We honoured our students across the following categories:
🏆 Top 5 learners per grade
🏆 Certificates recognising the number of distinctions obtained
🏆 Overall Academic Performance

A special congratulations goes to Andiswa Ngcobo, who received the Overall Academic Performance Award with an outstanding aggregate of 86%, a true reflection of dedication, consistency, and hard work.

A special spotlight on our very first Grade 12 cohort this year!
Congratulations to you for reaching this important milestone. You are trailblazers at Imbeleko Academy, setting the standard and paving the way for those who follow. We are incredibly proud of your journey so far and excited to witness all that you will achieve.

We are deeply proud of every learner who continues to show commitment, resilience, and excellence. Moments like these remind us that effort matters, progress matters, and every success deserves to be celebrated.

At the beginning of 2025, Imbeleko Academy administered a Department of Education-approved placement test to identify top-performing Grade 8 and 9 learners from five Nyuswa high schools: Thabela High School, Siyajabula High School, Mnyameni Zenex Secondary School, Kwantebeni Comprehensive High School, and Maqhutshana Junior Secondary School.

From Term 2 onwards, selected learners participated in structured after-school, weekend, and holiday Mathematics and English enrichment programmes facilitated by Imbeleko Academy through the BLAP initiative. These interventions were aimed at strengthening academic foundations, improving learner outcomes, and fostering a culture of excellence.

We are proud to report a significant improvement in learner performance across all five schools, a testament to the learners’ commitment, the ongoing support of parents, and the collaborative efforts of educators and programme facilitators.

To recognise these achievements, we hosted the BLAP Awards Ceremony, celebrating learners who excelled in the programme and acknowledging their dedication and perseverance. The ceremony brought together learners, parents, senior management from the five high schools, and Imbeleko Academy staff to celebrate this successful partnership and shared impact.

Together, we remain committed to empowering young minds and building brighter futures through education, collaboration, and opportunity.

Behind every result is a story of consistency, discipline, and support. The Imbeleko Digital Afterschool Programme exists to walk alongside learners beyond the school day, creating structured spaces for learning, mentorship, and personal growth that strengthen what is already happening in the classroom.

We are incredibly proud of the matric learners who participated in our Digital Afterschool Programme and showed up with commitment, focus, and discipline throughout the year. Through their resilience and willingness to push beyond their circumstances, these learners collectively achieved a 100% pass rate, earned 82 distinctions, recorded a 99% Bachelor’s Degree pass rate, and saw 33 learners achieve an aggregate above 80%. These outcomes affirm the impact of consistent academic support and mentorship.

We extend our sincere appreciation and congratulations to our partner schools Maqhutshana, Siyajabula, Thabela, Mnyameni, and KwaNtebeni for their collaboration, trust, and shared commitment to learner development. Through this partnership, our schools achieved the following results:

• Maqhutshana: 100%
• Siyajabula: 90.4%
• KwaNtebeni: 98.6%
• Thabela: 95.2%
• Mnyameni: 86%

Meaningful change happens when schools and community programmes work together in pursuit of the same goal: learner success.

As we celebrate this milestone, we remain deeply committed to expanding access to quality academic support, strengthening partnerships, and reaching more learners who deserve the opportunity to thrive. This is only the beginning, and we look forward to changing more lives, one learner, one family, and one community at a time.

"After-school Progammes have so many benefits.

These programmes provide learners with a supportive learning environment, space to learn new skills, and find their passions.
There are so many reasons to turn for programmes this year.
