St Dominic's Boksburg Rooted in faith, guided by values, and inspired by the teachings of Christ, our Catholic ethos is at the heart of everything we do at St Dominic's.

Our school community is built on a foundation of compassion, respect, and service to others. St Dominic's Catholic School for Girls, Boksburg, was established in 1923. It is an independent academic institution comprising three schools in one:

PRE-SCHOOL
2-Year olds (boys and girls)
Grade 000 to Grade 0 / Grade R (girls only)

PRIMARY SCHOOL
Grade 1 to Grade 7 (girls only)

SENIOR SCHOOL
Grade 8 to Grade 12 (girls only)

The prevailing atmosphere at St Dominic's Catholic School for Girls, Boksburg, is that of a sense of belonging to the greater "St Dominic's Family" with roots in the teachings of St Dominic, the founding father of the Dominican Order. Girls of all religious denominations and races are welcomed and admitted to St Dominic's Catholic School for Girls, Boksburg. The emphasis is on caring, understanding and tolerance within a Christian context.

Our teachers are the heart of St Dominic’s. They are the people who inspire, encourage, challenge and believe in our girls, every single day.

Today, we celebrate the incredible difference they make, not only in the classroom, but in the lives of the young women they help shape.

As a little thank you, we treated our teachers to some raspberry and lemon cheesecake soft serve, because a little sweetness is well deserved! 🍋🍓🍦

As we continue getting to know our Class of 2026, today we are introducing Sakhe. The song she chose as the soundtrack to her Matric year is “Beyond Me” by Madison Ryann Ward. 🎶

A soulful song about wonder, faith and the things in life that are sometimes bigger than we can understand, Beyond Me feels like a fitting soundtrack for a year of endings, new beginnings and stepping into the future. 🌿

Our Angel Mass is a particularly special occasion at St Dominic’s, as it is the last Mass our Matric girls celebrate with the whole school. Our Grade 1 girls accompany the Matrics into Mass, a reminder of just how far our Matrics have travelled on their journey through St Dominic’s.

The Angel Mass is also a beautiful reminder of the angels who guide and protect us. We look to St Michael, the Archangel who protects us against evil; St Raphael, the Archangel of travellers and healing; and St Gabriel, the messenger of God. Alongside them, we remember our own Guardian Angels, sent by God to watch over us, guide us and inspire us to care for those around us.

Thank you to Father Solomon for celebrating this beautiful Mass with our school community, and to our Ethos Team for creating such a memorable morning for our girls. 💙

Caring for Our Common Home

Our Grade 10 girls participated in their annual Retreat, exploring the theme of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ encyclical on caring for our common home, the earth we have been entrusted with.

Throughout the morning, the girls took part in a variety of meaningful sessions, including Meditation, Spiritual Pathways and practical ways to reduce their carbon footprint. A presentation on the Science of Climate Change brought the issue into sharp focus, while highlighting an important message of hope: there is still time to make a difference. 🌱

The girls also put their faith into action by replanting the bulbs they received during Catholic Schools Week, giving new life to something small while reflecting on our responsibility to care for creation. 🌷

Our First Holy Communion girls had a lovely visit from Deacon Greg, who shared a meaningful talk about the Eucharist and the origins of Holy Communion, reflecting on the Last Supper.

The girls listened with enthusiasm, eagerly answering questions and asking thoughtful questions of their own. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to deepen their understanding of the Eucharist and grow in their faith as they prepare to receive Jesus in Holy Communion.

We are very grateful to Deacon Greg for helping our girls understand the beauty and significance of this very special sacrament.

May their hearts be prepared to welcome Jesus with faith, love and joy.
