Some children spend their entire day balancing.

Filtering background noise. Waiting their turn. Managing unexpected changes. Trying to fit in. Holding in big emotions.

Each demand adds a little more weight.

So when they fall apart over something that seems small, it usually isn't because that one thing was "too much." It's because it was one demand too many.

Behaviour isn't always about what just happened. Often, it's the result of everything that came before it.

When we understand that, we stop asking, "Why are they overreacting?" and start asking, "How much have they been carrying today?"
