This Youth Day, we honour the courage and legacy of the young people of 1976 by investing in the next generation of scientists, engineers, innovators, and changemakers who will shape our country’s future.

Congratulations to Tselane Gail Ndlovu, Eskom Expo Gauteng North Regional Science Fair Director, on winning First Prize at the 2026 University of Johannesburg Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition.

This prestigious achievement recognises Gail’s exceptional ability to communicate complex doctoral research in a clear, engaging, and impactful manner within just three minutes.

As a leader who inspires and supports young scientists through Eskom Expo, Gail continues to demonstrate the value of research excellence, innovation, and effective science communication.

South African young scientists researching rocket propulsion systems, climate-related fisheries conservation, and advanced mathematical modelling are set to represent the country at the 1923 International Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Fair (IMSEF) in İzmir, Türkiye from 1 to 6 June 2026.

The delegation includes Connor Kinnes, a Grade 11 learner at Elkanah House High School in Cape Town, Joshua Danilatos, a Grade 11 learner at Graeme College in Makhanda, and Rorisang Mohau Mohlobuli, a Grade 9 learner at Bloemfontein High School. The delegation will be led by Eskom Expo Ekurhuleni Regional Science Fair Director, Palesa Selepe.
