The need for parents to provide a balanced environment. Our play area is designed for best muscle, movement and balance development.
EERSTE WOORDJIES DAGSORG® was created with a view to providing an exclusive, nurturing and intimate environment that is responsible for the caretaking of children from 1 month to Gr R. The need for parents to provide a balanced environment for their children is increasing due to busy schedules and parents are now looking towards schools that not only deliver on the necessary needs of day-care or c
ompulsory school preparation, but also add an extra personal touch – a proverbial “home away from home”, where your child will receive not only the love and care they are used to at home, but also individual one-on-one attention that is needed for the best outcome of their development needs, thereby creating sustainable building blocks towards a bright future. EERSTE WOORDJIES DAGSORG® offers a safe and warm environment where each child is treated on their own merits and level of development. This provides an environment that is safe in all aspects of development;
· physically
· mentally, and
· emotionally
Through the above, we support all Early Childhood Development initiatives that enable cognitive, sensory, spiritual, moral, social and communication development of children. Core Focus Areas of Development
Extensive Private Learning Curriculum – although we take into account the South African CAPS Curriculum, we strive to expose our students to higher learning with higher outcomes in preparation for both Private- and Public school admissions. Key development areas include Cognitive Development (Motor Skills & Critical Thinking), Math, Language, Social & Emotional Development, and Self- & Environmental knowledge. The curriculum is structured to provide the best possible outcomes for creativity, imagination and independence. Physical Development – although we follow a stringent learning curriculum in class, we also believe that learning never ends and that information is best retained whilst children are having fun. For this reason, our students spend at least 4 hours per day in free play on the playground where class learning is extended to the outside and brought to life. Life Skills Development – students are taught necessary life skills that are often overlooked in modern day life. These include an awareness and respect of our environment and its resources, the ability to grow fruits and vegetables through planting activities, the preparation of food through baking & snack generation activities, exposure to art (creating, performing and confidence building activities), sports development, and animal behaviour and caretaking. Social Development – students are taught how to function both independently and as part of a team through activities that develop Self Awareness, Responsibility, Team Support, Respect and Sharing. Sensory Development – students are exposed to sensory boards and experiential activities to help develop the 5 senses of hearing, taste, smell, sight and touch. This is exceptionally important at the very early stages from 6 – 18 months where children associate emotions with every sense that is explored. In these activities, sensory nerve growth is stimulated through information that is transmitted to the brain which results in a child’s perception of the various senses. Sensory exposure in a controlled environment results in a well-balanced child that is not fearful of different textures, smells, sounds etc. Individual Attention – as a small and exclusive school with limited space, we pride ourselves on our high teacher to child ratio of 5:1. This allows for one-on-one attention where each child can develop at their own pace within a structured curriculum. Classes are small with a maximum of 10-14 students per class (dependent on the age group). Teachers constantly assess development areas that require extra attention and these gaps are dealt with through additional activities to provide the best possible outcome in each development area. Spiritual & Moral Development – As a Christian school, we believe in traditional Biblical values. Our children are exposed to Bible reading, prayer, discipline and structure. Students are taught to respect themselves, each other, authority and the environment. Extra-Curricular Activities – over and above the all-inclusive activities stipulated above, our students also have the opportunity to enrol in the below activities, that are available at our school, at an additional cost:
· Ballet
· Modern Dancing
· Physical Education
· Extra Math
· Soccer
· Karate
· Pottery

· Cooking & Baking
