Are you looking to gain valuable experience in ophthalmology and clinical patient care? The CUT Careers Office is announcing an opportunity for an Ophthalmic Assistant in Bloemfontein.

🔹 Position: Ophthalmic Assistant – Internship/Contract
📍 Location: Bloemfontein
📅 Start Date: Not specified
👥 Number of Interns: Not specified

Key responsibilities include:
• Preparing patients for examinations
• Taking medical and ocular histories
• Measuring visual acuity
• Performing basic diagnostic tests such as tonometry and visual field screening
• Supporting patient care and maintaining confidentiality
• Accurate record-keeping and scheduling
• Adhering to clinical, infection-control and safety protocols
• Working effectively within a multidisciplinary team

🎓 Relevant healthcare assistant or ophthalmic technician training/certification is preferred, with a willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training.

Huawei will be hosting an AI Technologies Online Training Programme from 24–26 August 2026, aimed at providing students with an opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.

The programme will be delivered online over three days, with approximately three hours of training per day, making it accessible to students alongside their existing academic commitments.

Please note that participation in the programme is online and students will therefore be responsible for their own internet/data connectivity for the duration of the training.
