Grade 7 Games Social

We all know its tough being in Grade 7 - meeting girls when you are in an all-boys school can be tricky! Luckily there is Grade 7 Social Night!

Our Grade 7s enjoyed a games social with the lovely Eunice girls last night, getting to know each other over milkshakes and brownies and some 'competative' Uno and Rummikub in the Champion Diningroom. There were lots of smiles!

Italian Rugby Exchange

After the first week in South Africa, our Italian exchange students are loving every minute of their stay at St Andrew's.

They have been busy - beside lots of rugby training they have been out and about - spending the weekend on a farm in Douglas, star gazing in the Karoo Night, sighting rhinos, Orange River boat cruising, walking with giraffes and zebras, watching Romania vs Cheetahs, tasting biltong, watching sunrises, exploring Kimberley and the Big Hole, braais and potjies, living hostel life, rugby training, brushing up on their golf skills, visiting a horse stud farm and generally loving life!

It is a pleasure hosting these Patavium Rugby Players and we look forward to the next three weeks, seeing our home through their eyes is a treat.

Youth Day - 16 June

In a moving message to the boys in Chapel this week - Mrs Kerry Gower recounted how she was a young teacher during the 1976 Soweto Uprising, when people stood for what was right, at great cost to themselves.

Her message was that we are now in a privileged position because of those who did the right thing.

Mrs Gower then went onto say that the hungry people in our city where more than lightly those that 50 years ago took a stand so we may have what we have today.

In light of this the school collected sandwiches to distribute last Friday in honour of Youth Day today.

20 blankets were donated by the African Muslim Association too and 5 large boxes of food parcels were packed. Thanks must go to the boys and parents for their generosity and to Mr Zuki April who drove us to where we could distribute our collection.
