Welcoming the French Embassy’s Press and Political Counsellor 🇫🇷

We were delighted to welcome Tristan Rétif-Roussignol, Press and Political Counsellor at the Embassy of France, for a valuable exchange on the French language and Francophone landscape in Bloemfontein.

We were equally honoured to have Prof. Naomi Morgan, share her valuable insights into the history and development of French in our city.

Dalise Kirsten, Directrice of Alliance Française de Bloemfontein, and Louise Coetzee, Treasurer, were also part of this enriching exchange. This was a wonderful opportunity to connect, share perspectives and strengthen the ties between the French language, culture and our local community. 🇫🇷🤝🌍

🇫🇷 Bonne Fête Nationale ! | Happy Bastille Day! 🇫🇷

Every year on 14 July, France celebrates Bastille Day (La Fête Nationale), commemorating the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789. This was a pivotal moment that marked the beginning of the French Revolution.

More than the fall of a fortress, Bastille Day symbolises the people’s desire for liberty, equality, and fraternity (Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité).

At Alliance Française de Bloemfontein, we are proud to celebrate not only the French language and culture but also the shared values that bring people together across borders.

Joyeuse Fête Nationale à tous ! 🇫🇷✨
