Today is the final day of our Grade 9 intervention

These photos are from today's first session, when we met the learners, started the conversations and began what has become a really meaningful journey.

As we bring the programme to a close today, we are grateful for every learner who showed up, participated and allowed us to be part of their journey.

More memories are still to come.

And that wraps up todayโ€™s sessions of the Grade 9 Intervention.

It has been a full day of learning, participation, and meaningful engagement, with learners from different schools sharing the same space, taking part, and making the most of every opportunity.

These final photos capture just some of the moments from todayโ€™s last session.

We are not done yet. Tomorrow, we return to the Callie Human for the final day of the Grade 9 Intervention, and we look forward to another day of learning, connection, and growth.

The Teaching Practice Directorate on the Qwaqwa Campus successfully hosted its Annual Teaching Practice Evaluation Training Workshop on 24 July 2026, in preparation for the 2026 Teaching Practice Evaluation Cycle.

The workshop brought together teaching practice evaluators to strengthen their understanding of the evaluation criteria, expectations, and assessment processes that guide teaching practice. By promoting a shared and consistent approach to evaluation, the training ensures fair, reliable, and high-quality assessments for all student teachers.

This annual initiative reflects the Faculty of Education's ongoing commitment to excellence in teacher preparation by equipping evaluators with the knowledge and skills needed to support, assess, and mentor future educators effectively.

One of the programme's standout moments was the inspiring keynote address by Dr Barbara Roosken, a UFS affiliate and Managing Director of a University of Leuven (Belgium) spin-off.

In her thought-provoking presentation, "From Teaching to Training to Learning and the Impact on Performance," Dr Roosken challenged conventional approaches to teacher education, highlighting the shift towards meaningful learning experiences that enhance performance. She also underscored the transformative role of mentorship in preparing and supporting the next generation of educators.

Her insights left delegates inspired to rethink teaching practices and reaffirmed the importance of nurturing future teachers through continuous guidance, innovation, and collaboration.
