Die Vrystaat Kunswedstryd took place from 18–22 May 2026 at Brandwag Primary School.

Ten girls participated in the Formal Poem section, while one learner represented the school in the Dramatized Poem section. Together, they achieved outstanding results, earning A and A+ symbols for their performances.

Squash💙

The following squash players have been selected to represent Free State at the annual IPTs during the June holidays:

U/11: Zaylee Nefale will be participating in the Difford Festival in George.

U/13: Palesa Kalake will be competing in Port Elizabeth.

U/15: Mosa Seduku and Jade Saaiman will be representing Free State in East London. Mosa Sefako has been selected as a non-travelling reserve.

Netball💙

Congratulations to Paballo and Kgalemo, who progressed to the final round of the Free State Netball Trials on Saturday. The trials took place in Kroonstad, where they competed against talented players from across the province.

After a long and challenging day on the netball court, Kgalemo was selected for the U/12 Free State Lynx Team.

🎶 ATKV-APPLOUS – IT’S OFFICIAL!!!🎶

The St Michael’s School for Girls Chapel Choir has been selected to perform in the final of the Girls’ Merit Category at the national ATKV-Applous competition.

The choir will compete against:
• Collegiate Girls’ High School
• Hoër Meisieskool La Rochelle
• Riebeek College Girls’ High School

The final will take place from **29 July to 1 August** at the iconic **Cape Town City Hall**, as part of the 49th ATKV-Applous National Finals.

This year, 314 choirs representing more than 22 000 learners from primary and high schools across South Africa entered the competition. The adjudicators attended festivals throughout the country and were impressed by the exceptionally high standard of choral singing on display.

We would also like to congratulate our fellow Free State finalists, **C&N Sekondêre Meisieskool Oranje** and **Eunice High School**, who have both been selected to compete in the **Girls’ Prestige Category**. We wish them every success as they prepare for Cape Town and look forward to representing the Free State together on the national stage.

Congratulations to our Chapel Choir members, Miss van Wyk and Mr Louri Coetzee, on this outstanding achievement. We are incredibly proud of your hard work, dedication, and passion for choral music.
