Congratualtions to the Brebner High School choir that achieved a Diploma ( Position 1) at National Eisteddfod of South Africa under the Mixed Chamber Choir Category. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement.💛💚💙
The choir qualified to participate in the Finals at the Young Performance Awards that will be held at Roodepoort. Wishing them all the best,make us proud!

Zhiglene De Vries and Chantelle Phillemon participated in the Schools Moot Court Provincial Finals on Saturday 5 August and secured their spot on the Free State team. Through their hard work, Brebner will represent the Free State at the National Moot Court Competition in Pretoria in the September holidays for the fourth consecutive year. We are very proud of their commitment to keeping the Brebner flag flying high. Congratulations ladies. 💛💚💙

Four Brebner teams were selected to participate in the finals day of the YACM Debating League on Saturday, 5 August at Bloem High. One Junior and one Senior team placed 3rd and one Senior team placed 2nd in the league for 2026. Congratulations to them and their coaches for the outstanding performance and ending the debating season on such a high note. You have, once again, made Brebner proud. 💙💚💛

Brebner Debating competed in the BDA Cheetah Cup on 29 August at Curro for senior debators. Brebner A came 2nd in the competition and 3 best speaker awards were awarded to Tsoelopele Mofokeng (2nd), Unakho Rozani (4th) and Siyavuya (9th). Congratulations. It has been a very productive weekend for the Brebner Debating Society. 💙💚💛

Siyavuya Majola, Unakho Rozani and Tsoelopele Mofokeng (grade 11) took part in the RTMC Debate Competition on 28 August at Aldam. They came 3rd in the urban debate section. It was a new style of debating and these three took up the challenge and gave it their best. A great result for a first attempt. Congratulations! 💛💚💙

BEHIND THE SCENE AT THE ACCOUNTING OLYMPIAD Pelonolo Metsing came 3rd in the district and 7th in the province for the SAICA Accounting Olympiad.

Brebner Debating went to Free State Trials in Virginia on 22 August and we could not be more proud of the selection!

Sibusiso Manjeya (gr9) offered his talent to the Junior St Andrews team for trials and the team came 2nd in the province.

Top speakers in the province went to Unakho Rozani (gr 11) senior 2nd place, Tshepiso Leisa (gr 9) junior 3rd place and Charl-Jayden Mathobie (gr 8) junior 2nd place.

Selection for the Free State team was brutal and very intricate, making speakers jump through many hoops. Just being a good speaker, does not automatically secure you a place on the team. Specific criteria such as speaker role necessity, ability to work with others, self-discipline and team dynamics played a roll in the selection process.

The junior Free State team for 2026 includes Charl-Jayden Mathobie (gr 8), Tumisho Mogoroga (gr 8) and Chantelle Phillemon (gr 9) with the senior Free State team for 2026 including Tsoelopele Mofokeng (gr 11) and Siyavuya Majola (gr 11).

Brebner left a lasting impression on the selection committee and has once again proven the exceptional standard of debating at Brebner High School. Congratulations to you all. 💛💚💙
