Teaching French for rugby purposes.

08/06/2022

Do you know what it feels like to love something so much that you want other people to experience it too? I do! My name is Dalise Kirsten, a small town, South African girl currently residing in Bloemfontein, in the Free State. I'm currently working as a lecturer in languages at a local university, and I love the French language so much, that I can't wait to teach people the culture and beauty that make up this language.

I recently graduated with my Masters degree in French language studies, during which I decided to compile a multilingual dictionary for South African rugby players travelling to France. No, I don't like rugby - I'm obsessed with it and people can often see the sparkle in my eyes when I start talking about this sport. 🤩

Why am I here on this profile? Well, with the Rugby World Cup in France being just around the
corner, I thought it would be a great opportunity to put my dictionary to work. Whether you want to be all clued up for every match, or even if you plan on travelling to France for the World Cup? Maybe you are on your way to play rugby in France yourself?... Stick around and follow me for tips, tricks and cool terms for rugby purposes in French. 😉🏉

Oh, and the name? Well, Look It Up, is not only a term used for when you want to look something up in the dictionary, but it comes from the well known Bible verse, Psalm 121: 1-2 - "I look up toward the mountains. Where can I find help? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth."

I pray that this page would spark the same love for the French language that I have.
