Ending the month with a look back at one of our recent commercial installations at Platrand Lodge. ☀️⚡

With 45 guest rooms, function spaces and a busy hospitality operation, reliable energy is essential. This system was designed to support the lodge’s day-to-day demands with solar generation, substantial battery storage and a purpose-built distribution and protection setup.

From the expansive rooftop installation to the energy storage behind the scenes, every part of the system was planned around how the lodge actually operates.

Another project built for reliability, resilience and long-term energy independence.

What happens to the solar power your home doesn’t use? ☀️⚡

For this Woodland Hills system, 26.92 MWh of solar energy was produced, and after powering the home and charging the batteries, 17.74 MWh of surplus energy was exported back to the grid.

That means around 66% of the solar energy generated was sent back instead of going unused, while only 2.72 MWh had to be imported from the grid.

It’s a great example of what a properly designed solar system can do: generate, store, use and export.

On larger farms, a single solar installation isn’t always the best solution. With multiple power connection points across this property, each area needed to be considered independently.

By installing four separate systems, we could design each one around its specific power needs while still keeping the overall setup consistent, efficient and easier to manage.
