The UFS Library Podcast proudly launches its Women’s Month 2026 Podcast Series with Prof. Joyce Tsoka-Gwegweni—an internationally recognised researcher, academic leader, and Associate Professor at the University of the Free State.

Hosted by Charlie Molepo, Deputy Director: Research and Scholarly Communications at the UFS Library and President of the Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA), this episode explores Prof. Tsoka-Gwegweni’s inspiring journey from academic excellence as a school learner to becoming a distinguished scholar whose research has made a significant impact on public and global health across Africa.

Together, they reflect on the power of mentorship, the importance of women in research and leadership, and the resilience, collaboration, and lifelong learning required to build a successful academic career.

Today we proudly joined hands in celebrating the power of education, literacy and community development through the collaboration of the University of the Free State Library and Information Service, the Department of Education and the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation (Provincial Library Services).

Together we are creating opportunities for learning, inspiring a culture of reading and strengthening our communities through access to knowledge and information.
