We provide training courses for operating safely at height in a number of separate industries. We are accredited by the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) as a training provider and as an operator. We are also an accredited GWO Global wind organization service provider and we offer many GWO courses on a weekly basis.

A practical career is rarely one straight line. It begins with choosing the right first qualification, learning the fundamentals properly and then building experience over time.

This week’s groups at ITC reflect that range: candidates worked across IRATA rope access, GWO Basic Safety Training and Blade Repair, GWO Slinger Signaller, and OPITO Rigging. Those disciplines lead to different kinds of work, but all require focus, sound judgement and respect for the standards behind the certificate.

That is why we value having multiple training pathways available in one place. A person exploring work at height will need a different conversation from someone interested in wind, rigging or lifting operations. The useful first step is not collecting certificates—it is understanding which pathway makes sense for the work ahead.

Most people think IRATA rope access means oil and gas. Jessica, who came through from Somerset West this week, is proof it's a lot bigger than that. She's a welder in the film industry, and she came to ITC to add rope access to what she already does — because on set, being able to work safely at height opens up more jobs, more productions, and more work abroad.

She'd heard from friends who'd trained with us that ITC was the real deal, and she came in and excelled — straight into it and smashing the course by the end of the week.

Her story is a good reminder: rope access isn't a niche skill for one industry. It's a qualification that stacks onto whatever you already do — film, construction, maintenance, inspection — and makes you more valuable, more mobile, and harder to replace.

Josiah turned 18 this week and spent his birthday with us in Plett — not at a party, on the ropes. He came through from George to job shadow the team, get a feel for working at height, and see what the rope access world is actually about.

He's still finishing school. And like a lot of young people in our towns, he'd never been shown that this is an option: a hands-on, outdoor career that doesn't need a degree, doesn't put you behind a desk, and can take you to wind farms in Europe or platforms offshore.

Here's what it takes to start: you're 18, you have a valid ID. No experience required. IRATA rope access, GWO wind, OPITO rigging — all run weekly, all internationally recognised, all trained right here in Plettenberg Bay. Certify in one week, work anywhere in the world.

Training doesn’t stop when the lecture ends. 🎓🧗

Some concepts click straight away. Others make a lot more sense when you can sit down, rewind and go through them again.

That’s why we’ve recorded our important ITC lectures and made them available for students to revisit during their training.

Throughout the centre, students have access to screens where they can go back over key concepts, watch demonstrations again and learn at their own pace.

So if Andy’s pulley systems made perfect sense in class, great. 😎

And if they didn’t quite click the first time?

Watch it again. Pause it. Go through it. Then take that understanding back into your practical training.

It’s another small part of the ITC training environment we’ve built to help our students get the most out of their time with us.

Five new five-star reviews this week — here's what students actually said. 🌟

One called it one of the best places anywhere to get your rope access training — friendly trainers, attentive, and a safe, quiet place to stay with proper rooms and somewhere to relax after class.

Another thanked Andy, Costa and Raoul by name for the way they explain each manoeuvre until every trainee genuinely understands it, not just enough to pass.

A third, a day after finishing, said the coaches are very experienced, the centre's organised, the accommodation's good and the space feels welcoming.
