Euro Tour: Day 8

The day was dedicated to exploring the rich history and vibrant culture of Istanbul, a city that uniquely bridges two continents. From ancient monuments to bustling markets, it was a day filled with fascinating discoveries.

Our first stop was the Hippodrome of Constantinople, once the social and sporting heart of the Byzantine Empire, where chariot races drew crowds of thousands.

We then visited the breathtaking Blue Mosque, famous for its six minarets and stunning interior. Next was the world-renowned Hagia Sophia, an architectural masterpiece that has served as a cathedral, mosque and museum.

Descending below the city, we explored the mysterious Basilica Cistern, an ancient underground water reservoir built in the 6th century.

The day concluded with a few hours in the bustling Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world. It was the perfect place to experience the energy of Istanbul while finding a few treasures to take home.

Euro Tour: Day 6 & 7

Our final full day in Mykonos was a relaxed one, giving everyone the opportunity to soak up island life. Time was spent enjoying Ornos beach, exploring the local shops and relaxing by the pool. After taking in the beautiful views, we made one last walk into Mykonos Town for a farewell dinner on the island.

Day 7 was a travel day as we said goodbye to Greece and began the next stage of our adventure. We caught a flight from Mykonos to Athens, follwed by a connecting flight to Istanbul. Strong winds caused some delays along the way, and we arrived at the beautiful Nippon Hotel just after 21:00. After checking in we headed out for a quick dinner and our first glimpse of the city at night.

Euro Tour: Day 5

The day began with our final breakfast in Naxos before bidding farewell to the beautiful islanf and making our way to the port for the next leg of our adventure. We boarded the ferry bound for Mykonos. Strong winds and choppy waters certainly made for an interesting ride and one that won't soon be forgotten.

Upon arriving in Mykonos, we checked into the stunning Mykonos View Hotel and took some time to settle in before heading out to explore the island's famous main town. The afternoon and evening were spent wandering through the charming streets of Mykonos, taking in its iconic whitewashed buildings and vibrant atmosphere. A definite highlight was visiting the island's renowned windmills, where plenty photos were taken against one of Greece's most recognisable backdrops.

We ended the day with dinner in town, enjoying the great food and lively energy of Mykonos as the sun set over the island.

Euro Tour: Day 4

The day started at a relaxed pace, with a leisurely breakfast before heading out for more exploring. We hopped on a bus to Chora, the island's charming main town, known for its winding alleyways, whitewashed buildings and spectacular coastal views.

Our first stop was the impressive Temple of Apollo. Standing proudly at the entrance to the harbour, this ancient marble gateway offered stunning views and a glimpse into the island's history.

The group then split into smaller groups for exploration at their own pace. Some took the opportunity to browse local shops and pick up souvenirs, while others ventured deeper into the historic old town, discovering landmarks such as Naxos Castle and the beautiful Roman Catholic Cathedral of Naxos.

We caught the bus back to the hotel for some relaxation and a refreshing late afternoon swim. We strolled along the beachfront, taking in the stunning coastal scenery before choosing from a variety of local restaurants for dinner. A late night walk back to the hotel gave everyone a last opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Naxos before returning to their rooms to pack, as another exciting destination awaits us the next day.

Euro Tour: Day 3

Day 3 started with an early breakfast before departing for Piraeus Port, the largest passenger port in Greece and the gateway to the beautiful Greek islands. Excitement was high as we boarded our SeaJets ferry for our journey across the Aegean sea to Naxos.

The almost five-hour ferry trip gave every one the opportunity to take in the stunning island scenery, although a few had to contend with a touch of motion sickness along the way.

Upon reaching Naxos, we checked into the beautiful Lianos Villiage Hotel, our home for the next part of the tour. After a long day of travel, there was no better way to unwind than a quick swim in the Aegean Sea and a relaxing walk along the beach to soak up the scenery.

The day concluded with a delicious dinner at the hotel, and with full stomachs and tired eyes, it was an early night for the group as we caught up on some much-needed sleep.
From bustling ports and ferry journeys, to sandy beaches and stunning views, Day 3 marked the beginning of our island adventures in Greece.

Euro Tour: Day 2

Day 2 offered a slower pace and a chance to experience Athens like locals. The morning and part of the afternoon were spent exploring the city, browsing shops and disovering hidden corners of Athens, with an unexpected rain shower adding a bit of adventure to the day.

During some downtime back at the hotel, with a few brave students even took the opportunity to have a quick swim, despite the chilly water.

The highlight of the day was a Greek cooking lesson at Ateneo, where students immersed themselves in the flavours and traditions of Greek cuisine. Under expert guidance, they learned how to prepare classic dishes such as dolamades and spanakopita. Afterwards, the students enjoyed the delicious dishes they prepared themselves.

With full stomachs and wonderful memories, they returned to the hotel to pack and prepare for an early departure the following morning.
