Practice makes perfect and practice with a teacher helps you to perfect it even faster!
🎶 This video means more to me than most.
This was the day I decided to become a music teacher.
I wasn’t chasing a business plan or a career move — I was chasing connection.
That moment when music clicks. When it regulates, heals, gives confidence, and says the things words can’t.
I picked up my instrument that day and realised:
If music can do this for me, I want to help others experience it too.
That decision eventually became Bright Side Music School — a place built on patience, encouragement, and the belief that everyone can learn music in their own way.
This video is a reminder of why I teach.
Not for perfection.
Not for trophies.
But for moments like this 🤍
🎵 If you’ve ever felt that pull toward music — this is your sign to follow it.

Music is a powerful form of therapy.
🎶 This is for the adults who are tired of just “coping.”
Anxiety. Depression. Burnout.
Some days your mind won’t slow down, and your body feels like it’s carrying everything at once.
Music has a way of cutting through that noise.
Inside our studio, music becomes a reset —
a way to regulate, focus, breathe, and reconnect with yourself again.
You don’t need experience.
You don’t need to be “good at music.”
You don’t even need to bring an instrument.
At BrightSide Music School, the studio is fully equipped — including both left- and right-handed instruments — so you can simply arrive as you are.
From there, I take you on a musical journey at your own pace, in a way that’s fun, engaging, and pressure-free.
Music is especially powerful for neurodivergent brains — supporting regulation, focus, emotional processing, and creativity. I’ve seen firsthand how music helps quiet the noise, build confidence, and create a deep sense of calm and presence.
Neurodivergent minds are wired for creativity, and through music I help unlock that potential while teaching practical tools for self-regulation and learning how to truly be in the moment. Its also a great way to express yourself and offers a new way to communicate.
And for musicians looking to get more serious, I also offer Rockschool and Trinity grade work.
Every session is about progress, not perfection.
And every client leaves feeling lighter, calmer, and more accomplished than when they walked in.
If you’re battling anxiety or depression, I genuinely implore you:
give music a real try. 🎹💛

🎶 Bright Side Music School – Where Music Meets Purpose
Behind every beat, every note, and every breakthrough — there's a story.
For me, it started with Riley. Watching him navigate the world as child on the spectrum wasn’t always easy. But then music came in. It gave him focus, joy, and the tools to express himself. It helped him regulate, calm down, and engage in ways nothing else ever could.
That’s when I knew — this was bigger than just my story. So, in 2025, with the help of Taryn, I launched Bright Side Music School — a place where kids of all abilities, especially those on the spectrum, could explore music in a space that truly understands their needs.
🎹🎸🥁 Whether it’s guitar, drums, piano, vocals or just learning how to express emotion through rhythm — Bright Side isn’t just a music school. It’s a home for growth.
And now, there’s more…
Every learner who joins Bright Side automatically becomes part of Rock 1000 SA in association with The Riley Roo Foundation.
That’s right. Whether you’re just starting out or already jamming, you’ll be invited to be part of South Africa’s biggest collaborative music event — as we work toward a massive, record-breaking performance of 1,000 musicians, all united by the power of sound.
🧩 It's inclusive.
🎶 It's transformative.
📍 It’s happening in 2026.
Enrolments are now open so be sure to book your free assessment. If your child has ever shown an interest in music — or just needs a new way to connect and grow — this is your sign.
💛 Come find your rhythm at Bright Side Music School.

Why Music Matters So Much To Us And Why It Should Matter To You! 🎶
For so many students, especially those on the spectrum, music has become a new language with exciting possibilities.
It’s become:
A way to express feelings they couldn’t always put into words
A safe space to stimm, move and feel without being judged
A tool for sensory regulation, so the world feels a little less overwhelming
A rhythm that supports better focus and concentration
A calming routine that helps them soothe themselves when everything feels “too much”
Research in music therapy and neuroscience shows that music can support emotional regulation, attention, motor skills and social interaction, especially in children with autism and ADHD. Making music activates multiple areas of the brain at once and helps build new connections over time – in simple terms, music really does help the brain learn and cope better. 🧠✨
But beyond the science, music is also:
An escape when life feels heavy
A way to make friends from all walks of life
A bridge that connects people who might never otherwise meet
A reminder that you’re not alone in what you’re feeling
I genuinely believe there is potential in every single person – sometimes it’s just hiding behind anxiety, low confidence or “I’m not good enough” stories.
At Bright Side Music School, my goal is to help you or your child unlock that potential and come out of your shell through:
Fun, engaging lessons tailored to your needs, pace and interests
A calm, structured space where being “different” is completely normal
The choice to enjoy music just for you or take the next step with Rockschool or Trinity online exams
Whether you’re here to regulate, to heal, to grow in confidence, to chase grades, or simply to fall in love with music…

Music has an incredible ability to heal.
For hundreds of years, it has been used as a powerful tool to support emotional wellbeing, focus, and expression.
If you or your child struggle with concentration, anxiety, depression, or are on the spectrum, I invite you to come for a free lesson and assessment. This helps me understand your needs and recommend the instrument and learning path that will suit you best.
I work with children and adults of all abilities, and I take great pride in the lessons I give.
I take the time to understand each student’s interests, get them engaged, and build their confidence step by step. I break tasks down, celebrate small wins, and always go at a pace that feels safe and comfortable. Some kids drift, and that’s okay — I’m patient, I listen, and I gently guide them back into the lesson.
Every student receives a custom-tailored learning program, designed specifically for their needs and goals. I can also assist with grade work, exam preparation, and performance confidence.
Whether you want a jam session, structured lessons, or simply a friendly, supportive environment, I am here for you.
I invest in each student’s journey, track their progress, and feel genuinely honoured to be part of something that can positively shape a life. I’ve seen firsthand — with my own children and many others — how music helps with regulation, confidence, emotional expression, and creating a safe, calming space.
Give it a try — you won’t regret it.
Learning music can truly change your life or your child’s life in the most beautiful way.
