As we wrap up our month with Gini Harris, we asked her about her favourite paintings. Her answer reflects what shines through in her work time and again:

“It’s very hard to choose my favourite paintings, but I really love the effect of light on the subject. I also love painting flowers and especially water.”

Gini Harris started out as a trained Graphic Designer and Illustrator, although her love for drawing and painting began from a very young age. Today, she paints full time and works across a wide range of sizes, with a special passion for miniature painting.

Gini is a selected Signature Member of the Miniature Artists of America, which is a tremendous honour and recognition of her artistic excellence. Her paintings range from the size of a standard door to works as tiny as a postage stamp, each one created with incredible attention to detail and beauty.

She also regularly undertakes commissioned work, especially portraits, capturing treasured memories through her art.

From first brushstrokes to the final masterpiece 🍒✨

This week, internationally recognised artist Gini Harris shared more about the colour palette she uses in her paintings while working on this beautiful bowl of cherries.

“I have a standard selection of colours I put out on my palette… Some more opaque colours like Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Ochre, and Cerulean Blue. Then the more transparent colours like Viridian or Phthalo Green, Permanent Rose, and Ultramarine Blue. I also always have Dioxazine and Ivory Black on my palette.”

By thoughtfully combining opaque and transparent colours, Gini creates the depth, richness, and luminous harmony that make her work so captivating.
