Fresh from the kiln and full of personality ✨
This latest firing feels like a true celebration of colour, texture, and storytelling. From delicate, hand-painted florals and playful, folk-inspired patterns to more grounded, earthy pieces with subtle glazing and carved detail—each work carries its own quiet energy. There’s something especially beautiful in the contrast this time: bold, joyful surfaces sitting alongside calm, tactile forms.
You can see our students really starting to find their voices—experimenting with layering, trusting the process, and letting the clay lead a little. The whimsy in the smaller pieces, the confidence in the brushwork, and the patience in the more refined forms all speak to growth happening in the studio.
A special mention to the sculptural elements and those intricate surface patterns—they’ve come out of the kiln with such clarity and depth. And of course, a few surprises (as always), reminding us that the magic of ceramics lies just as much in the unknown as in the making.
Grateful for another successful firing and a studio full of inspired hands 💛

Switching out your thermocouple?!! A handy hint!
On a standard kiln Type K thermocouple (which is what most electric kilns use):
• Yellow wire = Chromel (nickel–chromium alloy)
• Red wire = Alumel (nickel–aluminium alloy)
👉 The magnetic one is the RED wire (Alumel).
Chromel (yellow) is non-magnetic, while Alumel (red) is magnetic due to its composition.
So if you’re ever unsure:
• Use a small magnet
• The wire that sticks = red (Alumel)
This is actually a really handy trick when the insulation colours are faded or confusing.

Fresh out of the kiln ✨
Our latest glaze firing is done, and we couldn’t be prouder! This batch features the very first pinch pots from some of our newest students—simple forms brought to life with beautiful, glossy finishes and a whole lot of personality. There’s something special about that first piece… a little uneven, completely unique, and full of excitement.
Well done to everyone who took their first step into clay—this is just the beginning!
