We like to take a step back to provide our learners with the necessary space to work by themselves, this allows for children to develop their metacognitive skills, which is their awareness of the learning process.

During lessons, our learners are equipped with resources and strategies to help them become critical thinkers, problem solvers, or self-managers.

Hello everyone! I’m Alexia but my learners call me Teacher Lexi. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and I began my career 2 years ago at a brilliant and reputable preschool in Benoni.

The best part about being a teacher is that I and find myself learning from children just as much as they learn from me! No two days are ever the same, and life is never boring!

I am drawn to the Abacus Maths program because when I was younger, I had an absolute 'maths phobia'. I would avoid maths because I found it boring and confusing and it caused a lot of unnecessary anxiety. Now that I am a teacher, I have found so many amazing and fun ways to teach maths using a variety of resources and methods to meet the needs of all learners. Abacus Maths is the perfect program and environment for children to not only understand mathematics better, but also to find so much joy and excitement in it!

I look forward to meeting you and your children, and forming a happy and fruitful partnership.
