Today we celebrate the incredible people who shape our lives with love, patience, and endless support. 💙

**Happy Parents' Day!** 🌸

In the middle of busy schedules, endless to-do lists, and everyday responsibilities, don't forget to make time for what matters most—**each other**.

Laugh together. Play together. Make memories that your children will carry with them for a lifetime. It's not the expensive outings or perfect moments they'll remember, but the simple joys of being together as a family.

Take the walk. Play the game. Bake the cookies. Dance in the kitchen. Put the phones away and be present.

Because the greatest gift we can give our children isn't things—it's our time, our love, and our attention. ❤️

Here's to creating memories that last forever.

🟡 Little Feet, Big Milestones! 👣💛

What may look like a fun game is actually an incredible learning experience!

Today's activity challenged our little one to pick up plastic balls with their feet and place them into another container. This simple exercise is packed with developmental benefits and supports important milestones in early childhood.

🌟 Benefits of this activity include:
👣 Strengthens the small muscles of the feet and toes, helping to develop strong foot arches and overall foot stability.
⚖️ Improves balance, coordination and body awareness (proprioception).
🧠 Encourages bilateral coordination as children use both sides of their body together.
🎯 Develops motor planning—the ability to think, plan and carry out a movement.
👀 Enhances visual-motor integration as children coordinate what they see with how they move.
💪 Builds core strength and postural control, which are essential for sitting, standing, walking and later classroom activities.
🦶 Supports sensory development by increasing awareness of the feet, which contributes to confident movement and gross motor development.
😊 Boosts concentration, perseverance and confidence as children complete the challenge independently.

Every playful activity at Granny Mouse Day Care is thoughtfully planned to help children learn through movement, exploration and fun while reaching important developmental milestones.

Research supports the importance of developing fundamental motor skills during the early years, as they contribute to children's physical, cognitive and social development.

🌟 Learning Through Play! 🌟

Our little adventurers had so much fun completing a soft play obstacle course today! 💙 While it looks like play, every step, crawl, climb and balance is helping to build essential developmental skills.

Obstacle courses help toddlers develop:
🧸 Gross Motor Skills – Strengthening large muscles through climbing, crawling, balancing and jumping.
⚖️ Balance & Coordination – Improving body awareness, posture and movement control.
🧠 Problem-Solving Skills – Encouraging children to think about how to navigate each obstacle.
👀 Spatial Awareness – Learning where their body is in relation to objects around them.
🤲 Motor Planning – Developing the ability to plan, organise and carry out movements.
💪 Strength & Confidence – Building physical strength while boosting self-esteem as they overcome new challenges.
😊 Social & Emotional Development – Learning patience, taking turns, following instructions and celebrating achievements together.

Play is one of the most important ways young children learn. Activities like these support healthy brain development, improve physical fitness, and lay the foundation for lifelong learning.

📚 Evidence-based benefits:
• The American Academy of Pediatrics highlights that active play is essential for healthy physical, cognitive and social-emotional development in young children.
• The World Health Organization recommends that children under 5 engage in plenty of active physical play every day to support healthy growth and development.
• The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that movement activities help young children develop coordination, balance, strength and confidence.

At Granny Mouse Day Care, we believe that every play experience is an opportunity to learn, grow and build confidence—one obstacle at a time! 💙🐭
