On 17 July, our July Holiday Programme will include a lesson in African music and movement, led by two accomplished musicians and educators who are passionate about sharing their knowledge with the next generation of creatives.

Through hands-on workshops, participants will explore the fundamentals of African drumming, percussion, and marimba performance while developing rhythm, coordination, teamwork, and confidence.

On 16 July, our July Holiday Programme brings together three talented theatre practitioners who will introduce participants to different approaches to performance through engaging, hands-on workshops.

🎞️Azande Mazibuko– Applied Theatre

From devising original performances and exploring movement as a storytelling tool to using theatre to engage with real-life experiences and social themes, participants will discover how theatre can inspire creativity, build confidence and strengthen communication and teamwork.

Here are some moments from the Sibikwa Arts Academy mid-year showcase: 'INHERITED'. From the multidisciplinary performances and visual arts exhibition by our learners, the event was a testament to the transformative power of arts education and the importance of nurturing young creative voices in our communities.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our students, staff and audience for making this occasion so memorable. Special thanks to our guests - the Ubuntu Jazz Collective from the Morris Isaacson Centre for Music - for their inspiring performance embodying the spirit of collaboration and youth artistry.

We are also deeply grateful to our funders, TotalEnergies and the Oppenheimer Memorial Trust, whose continued support enables us to create meaningful opportunities for young people to learn, create and thrive through the arts.

Commemorating Youth Month, 'INHERITED' reminded us that inheritance is not simply what is passed down, but what is nurtured, reimagined and carried forward.
