🏆⚽ LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! ⚽🏆

A massive congratulations to Kayden Francis from Grade 2O and his Old Bens U8 Premier team on an incredible achievement — finishing TOP OF THE LEAGUE! 💜⚽

What makes this achievement even more special is that the team was promoted to the Premier League midway through the season, which meant they had several games to catch up while still competing against the top teams in the league.

Through determination, teamwork, commitment and plenty of hard work, the boys took on the challenge, completed their outstanding fixtures and still managed to finish the season at the very top of the log! 🥇

This is a fantastic achievement not only for Kayden and his teammates, but also for Old Bens Football Club. The boys have shown tremendous growth throughout the season and can be extremely proud of what they have accomplished.

Congratulations Kayden and the Old Bens U8 Prem team — League Champions! 🏆💜⚽

COLLEGE: PERFORMING ARTS - Murangi Netshiongolwe attended the South African Championships of Performing Arts Medal Awards Ceremony, where he received a Silver Medal in the Acting for Television category.
This places Murangi 2nd in South Africa and 1st in Gauteng for Television Acting in his age group. Well done, Murangi!

Bella Philips in Grade 3 took part in the Cape Classique dance competition in Cape Town this past weekend and placed:
2nd for u/9 champ freestyle.
2nd for u/9 champ slow dance.

COLLEGE: Performing Arts - Murangi Netshiongolwe is currently representing Gauteng at the most prestigious cultural event in South Africa, The South African Championships of Performing Arts. Murangi is competing in six different styles of acting and is hoping to qualify for the Global Performing Arts Tournament next year. Well done, Murangi!

Shay Minnaar received 4 Gold medals at the South African Trampoline Competition in Cape Town for Euro, Double Mini and two Syncro categories. Shay is currently the top of her age group in all 4 categories! Super proud of her achievements.

COLLEGE: Public Speaking News - Murangi Netshiongolwe participated in the STARSFEST Public Speaking Competition and achieved an outstanding score of 97%. He was invited to the STARSFEST Gala Event and was awarded Top Grade 8 Speaker with the highest overall score in the Junior Division. Well done, Murangi!

Gauteng public schools close today, Wednesday, 23 September 2026, marking the end of Term 3 of the academic year.

Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture & Recreation, Lebogang Maile, wishes all learners, teachers, parents, School Governing Bodies (SGBs), and broader school communities across the province a peaceful and restful break.

May this time be used to recharge and prepare for Term 4.

Schools will reopen on Tuesday, 06 October 2026, to begin Term 4.
