Try to slow down and ignite their imagination...and possibly your own!
Get involved on World Read Aloud Day 2025
On Wednesday, 5 February 2025 the City’s Library and Information Services (LIS) will be celebrating World Read Aloud Day, an annual event founded by LitWorld in 2010 to highlight the joy of reading aloud and the power of sharing stories. This day is all about bringing people together through literacy, igniting imaginations, and fostering a love for reading.
This year’s theme is ‘Sowing Seeds of Hope’ and will see LIS staff reading to children at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital and at other venues across the city, spreading the joy of stories to those who need it most regardless of their circumstances.
You can be a part of the celebrations - whether you’re at home, at work or in your local library. We invite you to take a moment to read aloud to a child, a friend or a senior. It’s a fun and easy way to make a difference and spread positivity.
